5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Product & Great Customer Service, too!
The skillet is wonderful! Having an extra deep lid allows me to cook items that need more height, while the glass lid lets me easily see the progress of what's cooking! Customer service: A couple of days after I opened the skillet, I noticed that there was a small dent in the metal piece that seals the glass lid in the pan. 1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
After finally catching this item at a price $50 less than when I first saw it, I am ecstatic that I didn't buy it at the higher price because it isn't worth it. For one, as someone else mentioned, it isn't level, which is quite evident when oil or water is added. I too moved it around to various locations with the same lopsided results. Customer service: A couple of days after I opened the skillet, I noticed that there was a small dent in the metal piece that seals the glass lid in the pan. I called the customer service line and was greeted by a friendly representative. The matter was resolved quickly and easily and much to my satisfaction! I would recommend both the product and the company to anyone!

Next, as high as this set was at one time, ($90), one would expect it to be the highest quality of stainless steel, 18/10. The manufacturer claims that the 5 ply cookware consists of 18/8 stainless (304 series) and aluminum alloys. I've read that 18/8 is also high quality but that leaves much to question when the manufacturer suggests using plastic utensils rather than metal ones since those can damage and scratch the finish, which can lead to food tasting metallic.

Not using metal utensils seemed odd since I can use metal utensils in my All Clad stainless skillet without any reservations. With suspicions raised, I got a magnet and surprise, the pan almost snatched it out of my hand and it stuck! It doesn't stick to the All Clad. I thought the 300 series of stainless steel was supposed to be non-magnetic. I have several pieces of 18/10 stainless cookware and a magnet will not stick to any of them. So, it's hard to say what this skillet is actually made out of. I have been looking for an explanation but most say that magnets will not stick to 304 series stainless or 18/8.

Next up is the mysterious ring of white dots that surround the heating element. These appeared after I used the skillet for the first time to fry chicken. I've tried vinegar, stainless steel cleaner, and Soft Scrub, but it's still there, except for that spot where I took a Scotchbrite pad to it and lo and behold, it scratched it up! So now it's spotted and scratched! What a winner!

Now on to the stainless steel lid that's supposed to double as a stovetop skillet or griddle if you flip it over. It does have an encapsulated bottom, it's somewhat thin looking though, and I'm expecting it to start wobbling around on the stovetop at any time! Fortunately, I already have a griddle so I won't have to put this lid to a test that it will probably fail. Lodge Logic Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle

I have a variety of high end cookware pieces to gauge this against, and in my opinion, this set is not to be equated with high quality. I wouldn't recommend it and am seriously considering sending it back because I'm not comfortable with using it since it's doesn't seem to have the same properties as my other stainless steel cookware and those unexplained white spots sort of give me the heebie jeebies!

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a Small Pan After All, February 18, 2008
This review is from: Precise Heat Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
We bought this pan because we wanted a large electric skillet and the product dimensions were listed as 24 x 17 x 18 inches. Watch out! This is a 12" diameter circular pan. Even the box it came in is not as big as the dimensions listed. Unbeatable Sales gave us a refund, but we had to eat the cost of shipping both ways, which was almost as much as the pan itself. This may be a great small pan, but the dimensions listed are absolutely incorrect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, useful, and easy to clean, May 12, 2007
This review is from: Precise Heat Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
My parents gave me this for a birthday present, and it is amazing. It is like cooking in a stove-top skillet, only bigger, and I can control the heat exactly. The food doesn't stick to the pan, and it is very easy to clean. I highly recommend this item.

5.0 out of 5 stars great inexpensive skillet, November 16, 2008
This review is from: Precise Heat Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
After seeing the Saladmaster electirc skillet at a fair, I really wanted one, but was not going to pay $400 for it. This one does not have the oil core, but it has heated very evenly for me. We are using it at least 3 times a week and clean up is fairly easy. We can do pretty much everything in the same pan at the same time - I'll start with chicken breast and potatoes, then add broccoli or something on top halfway through (after I flip the meat) to steam, so - just one pan, very easy...

The skillet isn't level which actually works well for getting oil to pool for frying and so far hasn't been a bother at all. It really does wipe clean with a paper towel and I only give it a rinse every couple uses. I have an apartment with no kitchen so I wanted a good skillet that I could do all my cooking in and this has been amazing. I use it every day and often twice a day. On the positive side it heats almost instantly, you can turn it on and start cooking immediately. However, on the negative side, I did notice that when cooking eggs a slight discrepancy in surface temperature did occur. I have only encountered this once so I don't believe it is much to worry over. Cooking meats, stir frying, eggs, frozen pizza... list goes on... it has worked absolutely perfectly and I recommend this product to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic skillet is a gem, for cooking!, January 12, 2008

the bottom has a metal disc designed to spread the heat very evenly over the pan bottom. The only problem we had with it, was that when it arrived, the plastic support base was cracked. But when we contacted the seller, they sent a new base right away. Nice heavy stainless steel pan, With NO TEFLON® coating to chip and get into your food!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great skillet with a bonus skillet for the stove!, September 5, 2007
Great skillet. The high dome can be used as an extra skillet for the stove top. Also, this is the only electric fry pan I could find that does not have the toxic non-stick coating. The finish cleans like a breese without it.

4.0 out of 5 stars good electric skillet, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Precise Heat Electric Skillet (Kitchen)
While not perfect, this is the best electric skillet I have found. All else i found were thin aluminum with a Teflon coating. I was looking for something without Teflon. It was a bit pricey- about $100- though the prices are coming down now. I have used this skillet almost every day for the past several years in a semi truck. It is powered through a 2500 Watt inverter connected to 8 batteries. The cooking surface is a little uneven, but that has not been a big problem. Getting replacement parts may be problematic. All I received was a warranty card with: Customer Service, PO Box 224442,Dallas,TX 75222. No phone #, yet one reviewer said they called customer service. Would like to get the phone #! The heat control (probe) finally failed. I was able to locate a generic model at a local store. Vanness,11121 N Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock,Ar. It cost about $15. Controller Model PH-1, 1650 Watts, E187415. The new control works fine. The plastic base cracked, so i glued it together with JB Weld. This skillet has allowed me to eat more healthy and save money while out on the road.
