No Bad for $50 Bucks,
This review is from: Precision Design DSLR300 Universal High Power Auto Flash with Zoom/Bounce/Swivel Head for Digital SLR Cameras (Electronics)
This product is a good value for $50. This flash works great with my Canon Powershot S5 IS. It has 1 manual mode plus 2 auto modes. Since it is not a TTL auto flash, it will not "talk" to the "brain" of my S5. This is not a problem in practice because all you have to do is set your camera to the desired manual mode and select the corresponding auto mode on the flash. The fact it is not a TTL also allows it to be used with all digital cameras with a flash hot shoe. This flash is also very lightweight (even with the batteries in it). The screw down attachment also makes this flash very secure on the camera. The swivel bounce gives the photographer good flexibility in lighting control.

Cheap strobe did the job,

I got this strobe last-minute for a night shoot. I was worried at first, but the results were great! It didn't take long to recharge, and the pictures came out fine. For a struggling student photographer, this was a great buy. I'll keep it instead of buying the Olympus flash.

Good flash for beginer,

Test it in manual mode with Canon Xsi, the flash is very powerful, I have to set ISO to 100. Most of the settings in the back of the flash is useful for zoom lens and prime lens as well. Highly recommended.

Works great on my new Sony A300 DSLR. You need a shoe adapter to attach to the camera and operate. I got the Seagull SC-5 Hot Shoe Adapter to Standard Flash Shoe with PC Connection - for Konica Minolta Maxxum & Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras and it works very well.

I think... $50 is an excellent value for this flash. It is powerful, highly recommended, i have a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Canon Powershot SX10IS 10MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom, you need to "play" with manual settings a little bit, but results are very nice.

I'm using this on an Olympus E-VOLT E300. Had no problems getting it set up, and it certainly worked well. Used it primarily for bounce work at a wedding, and it performed admirably.
The best thing about this, I discovered, is that it actually gets better battery performance than they detail in their info on it. They say approx 150 shots per battery load, but I was up to 220 and it was still working fine. Haven't tested beyond that, but I'll be sure to on my next set. With the price of batteries eating into my pocket on other devices, this was a huge bonus. If you're looking for a cheap flash to play around with, this is it.

This may not be the greatest flash out there, in fact we all know that it's not.
Being as you're on this page though, I will assume that you are not looking for the "greatest flash out there", I will also assume that you are simply looking for a good flash that won't cost much. If this is indeed what brings you to this item, you have found what you are looking for... It actually has some nice features, such as a swiveling neck and a adjustable diffuser that telescopes away from the bulb. Additionally it has a pretty fast recharge rate, which was something I was surprised to see. All-in-all this is well worth the $50 price tag. ~Rusty

This flash serves its purpose. I used it with a diffuser on and got good results when decreasing my f-stop. I would recommend getting an "expensive" flash though so you can adjust the power.

Money Well Spent,
This review is from: Precision Design DSLR300 Universal High Power Auto Flash with Zoom/Bounce/Swivel Head for Digital SLR Cameras (Electronics)
For $50 you really can't go wrong with this flash. The recharge time is decently fast, fast enough in fact that I use this for a lot of my macro photography. This flash is extremely versatile and for $50 you don't even have to worry about it breaking. I have shot well over 200 shots with it thus far and I have yet the need to replace the batteries (although I feel it will soon be time). The swivel head turns 90 degrees, and you can zoom the flash as well. There are 3 flash power modes with a chart on the back to help you decide which on to use. For anyone on a budget I would definitely recommend this flash.
Unfortunately I cannot comment on its usefulness for portraiture because I do not take portrait photographs. I can only imagine it will do well.

Better than the built in flash, but not professional quality,

this flash works great if you are simply a photography enthusiast or do it as a hobby, but I would not recommend it for professional work. Does not have TTL ( doesn't "talk" to your camera and adjust accordingly to camera settings ) and goes through batteries like crazy. Burned through 16 AA's shooting one wedding. Price is great but as they say, you get what you pay for.
