5.0 out of 5 stars Percision Design EW-60C Lens Hood for Canon EF S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens
This lens hood is of the same style and quality of the Canon brand. Initial installation on my lens was extra tight, but after several careful installation/removals the fit loosened to a desirable fit. This is a smart choice for photographers on a tight budget. 3.0 out of 5 stars Canon ef 18-55 lens hood
Pros: Price, Hood that works on 18-55 lens

Cons: A bit flimsy compared to other hoods. Fits a bit to tight on my lens.

This lens hood is of the same style and quality of the Canon brand. Initial installation on my lens was extra tight, but after several careful installation/removals the fit loosened to a desirable fit. This is a smart choice for photographers on a tight budget. This hood can be installed backwards for an easy way of storing with the lens or just to stow on the lens while the lens is in use when you are shooting situations requiring frequent change of filters/using polorizing filters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Precision Design EW-60C Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 I, II, III, IV, V Lens, EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 I, II, IS,, December 19, 2007

Not too much to say, after all, I'm reviewing a piece of plastic. It fits the lens well and does what it is intended to do. The only drawback is that, like most lens hoods, it makes removing the lens cap or a filter a bit more difficult, and although the hood is easy to remove, doing so frequently will likely wear the locking mechanism out. For all you cost-conscious folk out there, it is cheaper than the Canon version, so is a better value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job and then some!, October 3, 2009

I use this hood for my default Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens on my Rebel XSI. It does what it is supposed to do and then some:

Pros
-Blocks out light glare from the side
-Protects my lens from dust & scratches
-Serves as a nice grip for manually focusing the lens

Cons
-Not the greatest plastic construction. Could be a firmer plastic but I'm just being picky

5.0 out of 5 stars More than Adequate, September 25, 2009

Pro's:
- Adequate construction (plastic)
- Matte finish inside the hood
- No vignetting on the 18-55 IS stock lens when viewed at 18
- Reverses for storage as expected
- Not insanely overpriced like Canon's hoods
- Works fine with a 58mm Hoya HMC CP filter and lens cap
- Same expected benefits as any other hood
- Not evident as a knock-off product

Con's:
- Felt rather than matte would be preferred inside the hood
- A bit snug on the fit. Not a significant concern.

Purchased my product through Camsdigital which was not a default vendor. They shipped the product the same day.

It does what it's suppose to do, just not as long as I was expecting. I always buy Canon brand acessories, so I shopped around and found the best price here.

It fits great so if you think you need one go with this one over the expensive Canon version, but it's just so small it's hard to imagine it does much. But I guess if it prevents lens flare on that one great image in a lifetime it's worth it.

I use this on my EF-S 18-55 stock lens for my XSi, it works great and is a fraction of the cost of similar hoods.

I was not sure I would like trhe item. It was not OEM and it was plastic, but I am completely happy with it. It will function just as good as OEM and will last as long too.
