This dog house arrived as described. I have a larger dog house similar to this one and the roof lifts up. I wish this one did too, but I knew this before I bought it.

I searched high and wide for a decent doghouse at a decent price. I took a chance on this one and boy was it the right decision. It is well made, accurately sized in the description and putting it together was a breeze! It would suit one largish dog okay.. a medium dog like a retriever quite well.. and it serves as a happy home for my three small dogs. One of them likes to lay on top and watch the neighborhood. You can't go wrong with this product.

EXTREMELY PLEASED. I COULD HAVE BUILT A HOUSE/SHELTER WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FUNCTIONAL BUT NOT HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF THIS LOG CABIN DESIGN. IT IS CONSTRUCTED OF FIR WOOD WHICH IS STAINED AND ISN'T HEAVY. ASSEMBLY WAS SIMPLE AS THE MANUFACTURER HAS TAKEN TIME TO MAKE SURE THINGS FIT AND THE PREDRILLED HOLES LINE UP. REMINDED ME OF AN IKEA PRODUCT, WHICH IS GOOD. THIS HOUSE IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE A CAGE SO IT WON'T HANDLE A LOT OF ROUGH PLAY BUT WILL SERVE NICELY AS A FANCY HOME FOR YOUR PET AND ONE YOU WILL BE PROUD TO SHOW YOUR FRIENDS. FLOOR IS ELEVATED ABOUT 1.5" AND THE SINGLE PIECE ROOF IS COVERED WITH SHINGLES WITH A SLIGHT PITCH TO THE BACK FOR DRAINAGE. THE ONLY NEGATIVE I'VE FOUND IS ONCE ASSEMBLED THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAN IT IS TO CRAWL SORT OF INSIDE IT. I GUESS YOU COULD REMOVE THE 4 ROOF SCREWS AND CLEAN IT WITH THE ROOF REMOVED. THAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY. MAYBE INCORPORATE WING NUT BOLTS INSTEAD OF THE SCREWS IF YOU WANT TO GET INSIDE OF IT FREQUENTLY? EVERYTHING ELSE INCLUDING HOW IT WAS PACKED WAS A POSITIVE!

I paid way too much for a dog house that was way too small. It says large but may be large for a small dog but way too small for a Great Dane.
