The spreader is constructed with an extra-strong 1-1/4-inch powder-coated steel tube frame, a heavy-duty plastic hopper with a wrap-around support for additional strength, metal gears with grease fittings, and a steel mesh hopper screen for durability and reduced clogging and maintenance. Two heavy-duty 15-inch pneumatic treaded turf tires with steel wheels provide ease of movement over many different terrains and in even difficult conditions. A handy rain cover is provided for spreading in inclement weather conditions. All parts are covered with a 90-day limited warranty, and assembly should take about thirty minutes.--Jeffrey Dalto

Sturdy spreader,

This review is from: Precision Products TBS7000RDOS 7 Series 200-Pound Tow Behind Broadcast Spreader with Rain Cover (Lawn & Patio)
We have just used this spreader for two days, but we are impressed with the design and the sturdiness of it. It is built to travel over our rather lumpy pastures and not jam, change its settings or break, as several previous spreaders have done. It really can carry 250 lbs of lime, etc. There is an internal screen that keeps hard lumps out of the spreading mechanism, and a cover that keeps rain from altering the flow of material.
I have two complaints. The first is that the hand control to open the feed of material and start spreading is impossible to reach while seated on our lawn tractor. We have a long hitch because it has to fit under large grass catch bins. It is awkward to get off the tractor to open the chute because of course the lime or fertilizer immediately starts to flow down and out while you race to get moving forward. We are planning to make some kind of extension on the control handle. The other complaint is that the packaging of this item was competely inadequate for shipping. The first one arrived totally smashed and had to be returned. The second one arrived in a box that had clearly blown open and we worried that some of the hardware would be missing. Fortunately it was all there. A sturdier box and some supportive packing material is needed for this heavy and irregularly shaped item

Poor Method of Packaging for Shipment.,

I would concur with the other reviews; my biggest disappointment with the product is the attention the manufacture has paid to packaging of the item for shipment. I received the item in two pieces, the spreader hopper attached to the wheels and the extension arm that interconnects the hopper to the hitch. The hopper and wheel assembly fit okay into the box, but the extension arm was not fastened to anything which allowed to shift, move, and obviously bounce around during transit. The result is several chips and scratches on the extension arm and metal frame of the hopper with is exposing the orange primer. Having the unit beat up a little doesn't bother me too much when being done through normal use, but I'm disappointed that it came this way in its new condition. The only other problem I'm having with the unit is that the spreading adjustment lever interferes with the rear rack on my ATV, when I drive across some larger bumps it has a tendency to be bumped off. I will need to make a hitch extension for this to work right with my ATV. On my lawn tractor it works just fine, but I prefer my ATV because I can go a little faster. Overall though, I have given this unit four stars because it seems well build and I appreciate good things.

Well-Built Spreader!,

This review is from: Precision Products TBS7000RDOS 7 Series 200-Pound Tow Behind Broadcast Spreader with Rain Cover (Lawn & Patio)
I recently purchased the Precision Products TBS7000 series 200 lb. tow behind broadcast spreader. My experience is similar to the other reviews I relied on when making my purchase. The spreader is well-built, and does a good job. I'm confident it will stand up to the work I'll put it through fertilizing our 5 acre horse pasture and our yard. It tows nicely behind our Sears 24 horse garden tractor, and the large capacity is nice so I'm not constantly filling the bin with more fertilizer.
As mentioned in other reviews, the shipping box and packing materials (read: lack therof!) were suspect at best. The box arrived in a torn and tattered state, and I had damage to the spinner disc on the spreader as a result of the packaging. However, I emailed customer service with Precision Products about the problem, and they immediately sent a new spinner disc to me. Once I replaced the damaged spinner disc the spreader worked well. If purchasing this product, check the spreader closely for damage upon arrival if the box and packaging are not intact when you receive it. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others who are looking for a sturdy, large capacity tow behind spreader.
