More About the Author

C.E. Kilgore (1981 - ) is an author without genre, who likes to dabble in several genres from romance to science fiction. She also enjoys pushing the boundaries of those genres, trying new things, venturing outside formulas and turning tropes on their heads. Admittedly a control freak, she is currently a self-published author under the name Tracing The Stars, and hasn't quite found the publisher who fits all her quirks. HOLY CRAP! I loved this short-story so darned much! I thought the idea would be weird... I mean, two strangers meet in a dark restaurant so... would the whole story be just dialogue and touching? Sounded like it could have been too much erotic-ness for me.

BUT, Ms. Kilgore turned this unusual idea into the cutest, most romantic, funniest, sweetest, sexiest short-story I've read in a while. The steamy moments were light until the end and then they weren't even in your face steamy, but more, romantic steamy.

And the dialogue was snappy and showed the instant connection the two characters had with each other based solely on their personalities. And no, they aren't in the dark room the whole time, thought that part was so fun to read!

And the writing was fabulous! I rooted so hard for both characters because they both had faults and "preconceptions" that came between them but then the end was soooo sweet! I seriously melted.

I got this story for free by winning a contest and am so glad I did.

And I liked that it was a short story because it got to all the good parts so much faster.

Go read this story if you're looking for a sweet, unusual and completely romantic good time!

I loved the concept; two people getting to know each other without any of the visual preconceptions, forcing people to actually have to listen to one another.
The characters were fully fleshed, and I was completely invested in their relationship. While not a long book, this was a complete story that I greatly enjoyed and would highly recommend!

As the synopsis states

Preconceptions is a sweet and geeky contemporary romance that will ask you to test your own perceptions and preconceptions as two strangers meet in total darkness. Subtle clues and conversation will be your only hints at the two main characters' true identities. When the lights come on and all is revealed, will your preconceptions prove true, or will the truth be an unexpected surprise?

this is a Novella but even so its packing a punch from start to finish, I didn't want to stop reading (late into the night again!)

Dee has been set up on a "Blind" Date for her big '30' she's completely in the dark about it (Pun intended)

Her intended date is 'Chris' who has been on a few of these 'blind dates' since his best friend owns the club, he had decided to call it quits when he was told that this date was 'THE ONE'...

I have heard of these places and Ms. Kilgore has taken this scenario and turned it into a humorous light entertaining read, I really had a smile on my face through most of the story!

The beginning of the book draws you in straight away, and I had a few LOL moments as you can imagine how hard it would be finding a glass of wine or food in total darkness. I loved the quick witted answers Dee spurts out... after all being out of your depth can either make you sink or swim.

The chapters that are about this first initial meeting are by far my most favourite part in the book.

Excellent characterizations in a unique situation = a very believable romance. The wordplay between hero and heroine in the dark was witty and wonderful. I was sorry to see the lights come on!

I loved this story. Not just the idea of the restaurant in the dark, but of getting to know someone for who they are, beyond what they look like. The characters are very well written and because we don't get much of a description of what they look like either, we get to know them "in the dark" too.

I love a story that can make me laugh and the witty, flirty dialogue in this story had me not only laughing out loud, but needing to read it out loud too. Sometimes the words just need to be spoken.

I liked it, initially I thought that the h was a little too geeky, way to many jokes, but it was her personality and she was sweet and fun so no harm done. I loved that the H wasn't a typical older alpha male, I wasn't expecting the description we received and I liked it a lot, the clash of the bad boy look, complete with piercings and tattoos goes perfectly with the sweet almost shy personality. A couple of things I would've liked better was firstly to hear a little more of their story, it ended a little abruptly to me, and secondly a little more passion in the sex department.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this story and the theme. I was a little afraid it would be erotic, but it is not. The conversation between the main characters is excellent and kept me turning pages. I loved the geekiness, too. I highly recommend this story for its intelligence.
