Essential Reading for All Physics Instructors,
By Jeff Steinert (Topsham, ME USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Preconceptions in Mechanics (Paperback)
Camp and Clement have written a book that thoroughly explores how students preconceptions about forces and motions affect their ability to comprehend the Newtonian view of how the Universe operates. Their explanation of the use of explicit bridging analogies to assist pre-Newtonian students in confronting and correcting these inconsistencies is well worth the price of the book. I highly recommend it to anyone who teaches a course in introductory physics. It will help you to understand where your students are coming from and how you can help them get where you are going.
