5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe the best crosstrainer out there, March 16, 2009
By
This review is from: Precor EFX 556i Elliptical (Misc.)
I was at my gym today and I realized I love this particular crosstrainer. I'm not a very athletic guy but I love to do cardio just before I do weights. Owing to the fact that my right foot has some problem, I take to the crosstrainers over treadmills. I've been to many gyms and have used many crosstrainers but this one, right here, is the best I've ever used. I work out at the local POWERHOUSE and just today using this crosstrainer in about 92 minutes, I managed to lose 1000 calories.

Being a cross-trainer, you can use either the side-bars or simply keep your hands just under the display. There is not any room to keep your drinks but I could care less really. The built is big, sturdy and I really suggest or recommend this to someone who's actually going to be buying one for their own home gym. I'm not a very tall man (5'9) and I feel this is just about perfect for someone like me.

The buttons give you various options but I prefer the quickstart mode. You can change resistance to better suit your need but I recommend going at a steady 5 for beginners. By the way, because i was enjoying my workout so much whilst plugged into my ipod, I checked the model for this particular cross trainer. In the past, I have used many tradmills (when my foot was fine) and cross trainers and I can say without a glimmer of a doubt that PRECOR is hands down the best company for the same. I don't know how they do it but I've never seen any wires on this thing. I presume it's attached from underneath.

The padding/pedal is of perfect size and it ensures your foot is locked in.

NOW. Of course, I am not going to buy this for my one bedroom apartment but I guess there is someone in the world who might. Is it worth the prize? You decide.

**update**

The 576 is better because it gives you space to keep your glasses, mobile phone etc. It's also bigger and gives you more options and elevation. A marked improvement.
