Worth a purchase,
By John S. Milas (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Predator Omnibus Volume 3 (v. 3) (Paperback)
Volume three is about as enjoyable as volume two I'd say. Here we have three main novels collected followed by three shorts, and they're mostly pretty good.
Bad Blood A psycho Predator who has killed the rest of his clan crash lands on Earth and wreaks a whole lot of havoc in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. This is a really entertaining story that keeps you guessing as to who's actually going to live or die. It's pretty substantial in length, and the only downside of this is that the ending is a little drawn out. Overall though, this is a very good read. 4/5 Kindred Predator - Kindred is an awesome story. It follows the serial killer motif established in Bad Blood and is about an escaped lunatic killer in a small Oregon town. The main character's father was killed by a Predator when he was a small child, and when he finds out the same one has returned, his objective is to destroy it. Kindred is easily one of the best Predator graphic novels out there. It's well written, illustrated, and is easy to follow. This is the kind of material that could be well adapted into a film. 5/5 Hell and Hot Water I'd read some quick reviews of this saying that it wasn't that great, and it really isn't. The art is sort of colored pencil-like, and not bad. Unfortunately, the story is just hard to follow and not as interesting as you'd think. A Predator ship is observed crashing into the ocean, so a bunch of special agents dive down to find the Predator. Mayhem ensues when they find themselves in a hidden underwater cave with crazy tentacle monsters. 2/5 Strange Roux Three men hunting in the Louisiana forest stumble upon a Predator. I really like the style of the artwork and the story is interesting and simple. It captures some of the original spirit of the films, yet has a quirky and original ending. 4/5 No Beast So Fierce A hunting party goes out into the wilderness to hunt a lion which has killed the husband of the woman paying them to hunt the lion down. A Predator appears. That's about all you need to know. This would be better expanded upon into a full length story, but instead it's compressed into only a few pages. 2/5 Bump in the Night Three kids camping out in their backyard in Florida wander out into the swamp and discover a Predator. 3/5 If you enjoyed the first two volumes, this is worth a purchase. Bad Blood and Kindred are very good, Kindred makes this worth the purchase by itself.

Predator omnibus volume 3,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Predator Omnibus Volume 3 (v. 3) (Paperback)
This has to be one of the greatest comics I've ever read! These comics are way better than the movies, and this collection happens to have the best Predator comic I have ever read(Bad Blood)! The drawings in Bad Blood are all works of art, with wonderful detail, and no lack of horror. The comics collected in this omnibus are: Bad Blood: 5 stars! Kindred: 4 and a half stars! Hot Water: 2 stars :( Strange Roux: 5 stars! No Beast So Fierce: 4 stars! Bump In The Night: 3 stars(O.K. story) Bad Blood, my favorite, deals with " a Predator serial killer". The Predator's ship crashes when the "Predator cops" ship shoots him down, where he crashes in a lake, and attacks a group of men shooting paintball guns. Sadly paintballs only make the Predator madder. Soon the Predator cops are chasing him down, along with the F.B.I. From there it comes down to the main event: a Predator battling another Predator. Kindred, the next story, is almost as good. It's a really complicated story, complete with flashbacks, murderers, cops, hunting trips, and a ton more detail and backstory. It also deals with some of today's many problems, and for a while you forget your reading a Predator comic. I only give it four and a half stars because the art wasn't as good as it could of been. Otherwise it probably better, or at least rivals Bad Blood. Hot Water was terrible, just terrible. It lagged on, was to boring, the art was bad, and it took waaaay to long to get on it's feet. By the time the real action starts it's to late and your almost done with the whole thing! The worst Predator comic I've read. Strange Roux was a great little story! When three men go out on a hunting trip, they encounter the legendary Gollywomp or the Predator. The art is nice, and there is some laugh-out-loud parts! Ranks among the best! No Beast So Fierce is an 8-page black and white story that has some imagination (such as a Predator vs. a lion)! Bump In The Night is also an 8-page black and white story, but this one lacks imagination. It's O.K., but nowhere as bad as Hot Water. OVERALL GRADE: 4 STARS. A great collection of hit and misses, but the hits are just spectacular! B+
