5.0 out of 5 stars Preggatinis is one book you'll really use!
Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be is a delightful, fun, colorful book full of bright and cheerful photos of sexy non-alcoholic cocktails (with pre-preg and daddy recipes as well). As a newly pregnant woman, I found this book to be a refreshing collection of uplifting passages and yes-you-can easy and healthy recipes! With all the heavy reading to do about pregnancy...

3.0 out of 5 stars Drinks for the Mrs.
My wife was really excited about this book...but it's basically classic alcoholic drinks with the alcohol replaced by soda/sodawater. Perhaps she was expecting more...

With all the heavy reading to do about pregnancy and what you can't ingest, how wonderful to have a collection of delicious green-light cocktails! They are all the author's original creations, with fun names like Folic Fizz and Gingerly Gestating. Ms. Bovis-Nelsen has brought her snappy chic LiquidMuse.com writing style to her first book, and I highly recommend it for yourself, as a baby shower gift, or for anyone who would like to drink healthy beautiful drinks without guilt.

Hi LOVE this book! The drinks was wonderful tasting even if they are alcohol free. I only gave it 4 stars because sometimes the products recommended in the book are difficult to find in a grocery store.

5.0 out of 5 stars These non-alcoholic drinks are sure to delight the palate of all tasters, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-To-Be (Paperback)
Illustrated with color photography sure to whet one's thirst, Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be is a most remarkable guide to mixing delicious non-alcoholic drinks, perfect not only for pregnant (or soon-to-be pregnant!) women, but also for anyone who prefers their cocktails without intoxicants. Preggatinis are not the same as syrupy, so-called "mocktails"; they are composed of freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruit or vegetables, herbs, and homemade syrups, and thus usually feature nutrition as well as great taste! Best of all, there are "de-virginize" options for these drinks, perfect for dads, nonpregnant friends, and anyone else interested in enjoying a preggatini with an extra kick. From "Berry Cherry Blossom" to "Hot Buttered Mum's Rum" and "Pomegranate Cooler", these drinks are sure to delight the palate of all tasters. Highly recommended, especially as a baby shower gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars great cocktail book.. even if you are not pregnant!, January 7, 2009
This review is from: Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-To-Be (Paperback)
Love the colorful pages and the great photos. Not only did I get the details on how to make the drinks but also what it should look like (and the glass to use!) Fun writing, easy to follow and fresh ideas. I am going to make this an addition to my 'gifts to give' list...
The drinks were so good, I didn't even miss the alcohol!
a great book for healthier drinkers.. and mom's (&dad's) to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, June 14, 2011

Being Pregnant in the summer can be kind of a downer when everyone is out enjoying their cocktails. Last time around I made do with fancy soda and sparkling wine which got old pretty quickly. This book has come to my rescue. I started trying out the recipes a few mth early and have loved everything I have tried! Yes, you have to buy a lot of random ingredients and fresh fruit, but 1) it is still cheaper than a bottle of wine. And 2) the fresh juice is actually good for you.

Completely recommend for anyone with a pregnant woman in their lives!

Some medicines shouldn't be taken while drinking cocktails. OR, you shouldn't drink cocktails when taking some medicines. So, if you're taking acetaminophen or valium or some such, it'd be nice to be able to make or order something other than a Shirley Temple. This book definitely is not just for the "Mom-to-be." My wife and I are 'way past that stage, but we're at that age where stuff breaks, pulls apart, or just gets sore for no known reason. Recently, while waiting for parts to heal up, we bought this book. We tried most of the recipes, skipping those requiring trips to healthfood stores for exotic ingredients - most stuff can be found at "good" grocery stores. Because I healed faster, I got to try them with the alcohol added while she stayed with the "base." Trust me (I'm too old to lie about much), she claims she wasn't jealous, and I didn't feel guilty drinking a real cocktail while she couldn't. Plus, the bartender at our favorite restaurant appreciated having some relatively simple but uncommon nonalcoholic recipes to add to her repertoire. Finally, we have some friends who don't drink alcohol very often or at all, and we've already added some of the recipes to the list of things we offer dinner guests so they aren't stuck with juices, soft drinks, colas, or ice water.

If you're put off by (or too young or old to appreciate) the cutesy focus on child-bearing, well, then, don't read those parts - just focus on the recipes. And, thanks, Amazon, for quick delivery. We got to use this book during our recuperation.

3.0 out of 5 stars I liked the picture format, but didn't include enough, November 7, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-To-Be (Paperback)
I really liked the format of this book. It was easy to follow, and the pictures were nice, and well done. My frustration was that the first third of the book was alcoholic drinks. This wasn't what I was looking for, and for the amount of recipes that were included in the book, it just didn't make it worth the price. The other book that I bought had 4 times the recipes, but no pictures, so I stopped at the first one. Maybe if they could combine the two.

This was a gift for a friend. While the idea of the book is a little toung in cheek, the actual book and its content is pretty useful! These are healthy drinks for the mom-to-be and can be made with some basic ingredients.
