As an perinatal RN and childbirth educator this book is a must. Regardless of other books you buy, this should be your first. It is eye opening to find out the information that the book contains. Information that the average mother-to-be has been denied for decades. Information that has kept the secret to easier, safer and heathier childbirth hidden from women. Do yourself and YOUR BABY a favor read this book. I believe in what Gail says and give the book to my clients to read.

If I had read this book while I was pregnant with my first child, I would have felt much better prepared for all the stages, particularly the birth experience. Now I can look forward to my second pregnancy with a stronger feeling of knowing more answers, and being armed with better QUESTIONS!

There is much mis-information surrounding childbirth. I cryed when I read this book. I wish I had this information when I gave birth. There is so much to know. Whith this information you will be an informed consumer in the birth process not just believing in the system and becoming another victim. Giving birth is the most powerfull and fuffilling experiences to have as a women. This book will give you the opportunity to create your ideal birth plan you will feel impowered after reading this book. Bravo Gail for your working in bringing us this smart little prenatal and birth handbook! Short yet to-the-point, it takes a month-by-month approach to pregnancy and looks at the options available to you as well as the many alternatives to mainstream medicine. Just the section on induction alone is worth the price of the book (chapter - fifth month) and I love her exerpting the best of the best books to provide solid information for pregnant women today. As a childbirth educator and doula this is one of the top books I recommend to my clients.
