5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Keepsake with Great Info
I picked this journal up at a mall bookstore the DAY I found out I was going to have a baby. I was looking for a journal to keep thoughts in and also in which to write little letters to my future child, and many of the options on the shelf were more "fill-in-the-blank" style rather than having room to really express feelings and events.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointed.
I had lots of emotions when I found out I was expecting. I needed an organized way to write them down to be used as memories later and to have one book which I can use to keep track of everything "pregnant".

I picked this journal up at a mall bookstore the DAY I found out I was going to have a baby. I was looking for a journal to keep thoughts in and also in which to write little letters to my future child, and many of the options on the shelf were more "fill-in-the-blank" style rather than having room to really express feelings and events.

This book turned out to be a sort of median between the two with places to fill in facts as well as sections where you can record your memos to baby. There also is a great organization of chapters interwoven with beautiful photos and places to store slips of paper, ultrasound pics, etc... Each trimester is divided into weeks and each week there is a little fact at the bottom about the development of your baby. In the front is an appointment reminder section divided into weeks along with a sheet for important phone numbers. There are sections to record people's reactions to the news, info on preparation for the entrance of the baby into it's new family, places to put name ideas, check-off lists of items to think about buying for the baby, the nursery, what to pack in the hospital bag, nutritional info, it's filled with facts and good information - stuff you might forget in the rush of things.

The little details are what make this book so special, and the design is superb, very feminine and elegant. I am extremely pleased and the journal will be treasured. I even plan to purchase it's companion, My Baby's Journal, when that time arrives! I highly recommend this to new parents as a perfect journal/organizer/keepsake for the early stages of the life of their new little one!

I had lots of emotions when I found out I was expecting. I needed an organized way to write them down to be used as memories later and to have one book which I can use to keep track of everything "pregnant".

The book arrived today and I am uunhappy with it. The size is good and would fit into most midlle, large sized purses (very important), its hard cover.

It has 8 dividers that have pockets to put thing in them: pictures, notes, papers, etc.

1st section (preparing for pregnancy):budgeting for baby (I found this stupid and useless, who cares and if you do is it somehting that you need to be reminded of later?), childcare ( if you are like me you havent really began researching day care options and wont have to for a while).

2nd sections (care and classes): just pages to write down notes on the classes you are taking and things to ask your dr.

3rd section (preparing for baby):names, baby shower, decorating the nursery, to-buy checklist, borrowed items,

4th section (the first trimester):broken down by weeks 1-12, with cute comments and space for you to post notes, at the end it has space for an ultrasound picture.

5th section (2nd trimester): broken down by weeks 12-27, with space for an ultrasound picture at the end.

6th section (3rd trimester): weeks 28-42 with space for a baby picture.

7th section (labor & birth):birth plan, hospital bag checklist, record of labor, list o fpeople to call after the birth.

8th section (the new arrival):new baby info, pages for pics, hospital visitors, going home, home visitors, babys presents.

I hope you understand exactly what you are purchasing and pick what you need.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST pregnancy journal HANDS DOWN!, August 17, 2004

I got this journal because I wanted something to keep all the information about the changes I went through during my pregnancy. I wanted to have something for me to look back on and something that I could give to my child when they are expecting their first. This book is wonderful! It is well organized and has little pockets on each divider to hold papers in. I put cards that I got from different family members that talk about how they can't wait to meet the baby and stuff. Every week there is a place to fill in your mood for the week, your appetite, your energy, and any food cravings and then there is a place to write any extra notes. There are also places for other people to write messages to the baby. There is a place for guests at the baby shower to write a message and there is a place for hospital guests to write and first home visitors to write. It also has places for dad's feelings too. I really think that EVERY expecting mother needs this book. It is truly a wonderful book.

Seriously,
I didn't really think there was going to be much of a difference between pregnancy journals and this one looked alright to me so I got it.Both I and my fiance were amazed,we think it fantastic.I guess it depends on the type of person you are and what you're looking for,if you want to write a book about the experience, this one ISN'T for you.If you want to keep track of all the little details,it's perfect!
Gorgeous photographic images,HARD cover, little pockets for momentos, sections to help you keep track of your head, like a space to help list what you'll need for the nursery and such,VERY helpful! On top of that it has everything essential(to me) to a pregnancy journal as well,a space to write each week, little tips on how your baby grows this week,EVEN spots for the girls at your baby shower and hospital the day fo the birth to write you and your baby permanant notes!!!
Sooooo...
Long story short, this product fits me and our pregnancy to a T,but I'm sure it won't be perfect for everyone. If you want more of a blank type journal to do more of your own thing, get something else. If you want something structured with helpful tips and such,it's GREAT!
Good Luck to you and yours!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for first-time baby, otherwise just okay, June 17, 2006
This review is from: My Pregnancy Journal (Spiral-bound)
Here are some things I really liked about the book:

1. a week-by-week calendar in the beginning of the book lets you jot appointments, special dates, etc., with extra weeks if you are overdue.

2. Pockets on each divider that hold mementos regarding that subject.

3. There is a page to record borrowed items, which is an excellent memory jogger for new moms.

4. Each trimester is broken down into weeks, so you don't have to write everyday.

5. The 'labor and birth' section has questions to help you create a birth plan. There is also an extra checklist for items needed for a home birth.

The book has some drawbacks, especially if this isn't your first child. These are things that are not a huge deal, but nice to know anyway.

1. The majority of the 'care and classes' section was useless for me. Since it was our second pregnancy we didn't do any classes, and I didn't use the majority of the pages. Tearing them out is an option, although the pages are numbered so it would show.

2. Each trimester has a lot of 'how I am feeling this week.' I personally felt the same - energetic, positive, and excited -- the whole second trimester, and into much of the third. It seems like several of the weeks were wasted because each aspect (energy, mood, appetite, cravings, sickness) has several lines and no space for anything else. Again, I could have just ignored the subheadings and written, but just something to be aware of.

3. The delivery section has a 'record of my labor.' Since my delivery was a scheduled c-section, I wish it were a little less guided in this section.

Overall its a nice journal for a first-time mom who wants a pregnancy keepsake without spending countless hours everyday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Journal, July 19, 2004

This review is from: My Pregnancy Journal (Spiral-bound)
Unlike most I have looked through, this journal provides so much room to write! It is also absolutely lovely. Each section has a little folder to put papers in, there are wonderful lists of things your baby will need & again most important of all to me was that there is plenty of space for you to make this personal, to write about the most amazing 9 months of your life. Take a serious look at this journal. It's the best I have seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, March 11, 2005
This review is from: My Pregnancy Journal (Spiral-bound)
This journal is absolutely amazing!!! I was so shocked to see how large it was, for one, how much writing space there is as well as beautifully organized sections for each trimester and more. What a wonderful place for an expectant mother to journal her thoughts, write down appointments, important numbers as well as keep track of all things baby. If you're looking for a journal, you won't be sorry. This is so nicely bound by wire with a nice hard cover. There are gorgeous pictures with tidbits of information throughout about your growing baby. I highly recommend and am so thrilled that I purchased this journal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, September 23, 2006
I received this journal as a gift, along with two other pregnancy journals. Being my first pregnancy all three came in handy for different reasons. If you are looking for a place to write down your every thought and emotion this is not journal for you, but if you want a great starting point for organizing and preparing for baby this is the book to choose. It is perfect for the person who likes making lists, needs a place to keep all the little loose ends and pamphlets received along the way, and wants to write about their pregnancy on a weekly versus daily basis. Also the rubber band that wraps around the book is a nice addition and helps keep everything in its place. This book held up well through nine months of being toted around.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, February 24, 2006

This review is from: My Pregnancy Journal (Spiral-bound)
I personally did not like this journal. Though it gives you space to write all all the doctor's info and gives you lists of items you will need for your baby, it does NOT give you enough space to write how you feel. It is broken down by week and though I don't want to write everyday this forces you to write what it wants you to write. For instance one week it says to write about your early ultrasound. I did not have an early ultrasound so that whole week felt like it was wasted unless I wanted to cross things out. Then on week 14 it says who did you tell etc. well I told everyone at week 4 so that was irrelevant also. I just felt it did not give me enough room to write what I wanted. Some pre-scripted questions are fine but this whole journal is this way. I hate it. I had this journal The Pregnancy Journal: A Day To Day Guide To A Healthy And Happy Pregnancy
by A. Christine Harris when I was pregnant with my daughter and I liked it so much more. It gave you space to write, some prescripted questions, and also gave you daily updates on what your baby was doing that day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Journal out there!!, October 11, 2005
This review is from: My Pregnancy Journal (Spiral-bound)
I loved this journal. It went to every doctors appointment with me. It has pocketed dividers so I could keep the sonogram pictures or slips of paper securely inside. It has places for you to mark down questions for your doctor. Each week has questions about how you feel, your thoughts, pro's and cons of home birth vs hospital birth, etc. Its hardbound (enclosed spiral) cover was extremely durable and lasted my entire pregnancy. I liked it so much that I bought another for this pregnancy! I would recomend it to all my friends!!
