As a midwife, a women's health nurse practitioner, and a labor room nurse for 23 years, I recommend highly this book to all expectant mothers. This unusual pregnancy book is actually a combination of two previously published and highly successful volumes. The first book, Pregnancy Myths offers an unusual wealth of insights and practical suggestions for the expectant mother. Rather than a standard treatment of the facts of pregnancy, he chose to present the medically related information in the form of answers to a total of 78 myths about pregnancy. I find this a surprisingly effective way to articulate important and relevant information on most of the questions facing the expectant mother. The second book, Birth Day! The Last 24 Hours of Pregnancy walks the expectant mother through the entire child birth process. From the onset of labor to the moment of birth, each stage of the process was discussed in detail. Relevant clinical options and potential complications were discussed in detail in terms easily understood by the average expectant woman. The facts seem to have been well researched and up-to-day. The book is well written and is a pleasure to read. This is an invaluable and practical pregnancy guide for every expectant mother.

I just had the opportunity to read "Pregnancy Myths" by Dr. Michael Benson. I found the book to be very comprehensive -- yet easy to read and understand. His book is an excellent resource, which addresses a variety of pregnancy-related questions and myths -- from conception through birth. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all those considering pregnancy as well as those in the midst of the experience.

As a prenatal educator, I found Br. Benson's book to provide a clear explanation for many of the "old wives' tales" surrounding pregnancy. His explanations are based on scientific fact without being difficult to understand. As an OB staff educator I recommend Dr. Benson's book as a resource for nurses with limited experience in answering a family's questions about pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum.

Until I read this book, I still had so many questions about pregnancy--not to mention all the myths and wivestales I was being told. Other books, especially ones not even written by physicians, confused me even more. That's why I LOVE Dr. Benson's book!! He gives you the straight facts so that you can make informed decisions as you go through your preganancy, labor and delivery. It's clear, concise, easy-to-read, and leads you step-by-step through the most critical information you need to know. If you want the REAL facts, if you want to be a well-prepared and well-informed patient- you must read this book!!!!!!!

Pregnancy Myths is an absolute must for the pregnant woman and obstetric health care providers. As an obstetric nurse, I would highly recommend this book to my patients as well as to other nurses. It provides clear,consise, and easy to understand answers to the questions we are asked on a daily basis! Pregnancy Myths is a valuable resouce!

Benson does an excellent job of "wiping the slate clean" of old myths that have been passed down for generations, and he also addresses many common questions and concerns regarding routine testing and procedures. Pregnancy myths is written in an informative style that captured my interest on every topic of the birthing process. This book uncovers the truth about pregnancy and gives reassurance with scientific fact that risk and complications are the minority to the vast numbers of pregnancies today.

I found "Pregnancy Myths" to be a highly informative, concisely written source on many questions I had as an expectant mother, and many others I had not thought to ask.

During my three pregnancies, I have read many books about pregnancy's trials, tribulations, rewards and joys. I have just completed "Pregnancy Myths" and believe it is the most comprehensive and well thought out book I have read. "Myths" is an easy to use reference tool that gives quick reassurance when my husband or I have questions. I would strongly reccomend this book to all expectant parents.

This book was extremely helpful to me and my wife during her last pregnancy. It answered and clarrified a number of questions that we had in regards to 'old wives tales' and other myths of pregnancy. Very easy to read and highly recommended to expectant families or those planning to add to their family.
