5.0 out of 5 stars No more searching for a good prenatal vitamin!
These vitamins are the easiest to take that I have tried, by a long way. I did start out with a nice multivitamin/multimineral that was huge and I had to take it three times a day. I switched to Flintstones chewables after choking on the other multi a couple times. However, once morning sickness started, I could not tolerate the strong flavor of Flintstones any more, so I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Manufacturer has changed ingredients!! : (
pregnancy Plus has now included titanium dioxide and polyethylene glycol in this product! :( check the "other ingredients" list on your bottle. I won't be using this product anymore. Sad to see these changes... I'm guessing money had something to do w/ it.. cheaper to produce using these unhealthy ingredients.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strong odor and taste, September 12, 2005

This review is from: Pregnancy Plus Prenatal Vitamins (Health and Beauty)
I'm not a pregnant women but am very sensitive to strong vitamin tastes and they tend to upset my stomach. I ordered these thinking that if they are made for preganant women that they should be easy to take. They are easy to swallow and easy to digest but the smell and taste are awful. It is so strong that when I open my bottle it stinks up my kitchen. My whole family gags at the smell. Since I already paid for 60 tablets I swallow them with food to overcome the taste. I don't know if a pregnant woman who may be sensitive to smells and taste can take these.

These vitamins are the easiest to take that I have tried, by a long way. I did start out with a nice multivitamin/multimineral that was huge and I had to take it three times a day. I switched to Flintstones chewables after choking on the other multi a couple times. However, once morning sickness started, I could not tolerate the strong flavor of Flintstones any more, so I was back to searching for a swallow-able prenatal. I stumbled across Pregnancy Plus Prenatal while looking for morning sickness relief, and ordered a bottle to try. They are very inexpensive for a quality vitamin since each bottle is a two-month supply. I will not be looking for another vitamin; these are perfect. These are very small (they remind me of a pumpkin seed) and smoothly coated, so they are easy to swallow. Since they have no calcium in them (part of why they are so little), you can choose to take calcium in whatever way you like.

The vitamins do have a vitamin odor, but I never smell or taste them after taking them. Even with morning sickness I was able to tolerate these. Since I only need to take one a day, it is very easy to remember to take. I have ordered these more than once. The vendor I received them from packed them well and they arrived quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great vitamin, October 10, 2010

It was difficult for me to find a vegetarian prenatal vitamin that isn't loaded with herbal extracts and doesn't contain several times more than the recommended daily allowance for certain vitamins and minerals. Who really needs 588% of B1? I also have trouble swallowing large pills, so the small size of this vitamin is a plus. I don't mind taking a separate calcium supplement instead of trying to swallow large pills. Some other reviewers have complained about the smell of the vitamins, but I have no problem with how they smell. How many vitamins are fragrant anyway? These vitamins also do not upset my stomach. I had a very upset stomach during my first trimester and I could tolerate these vitamins, whereas I could not tolerate one of the other leading brands of vegetarian vitamins that I tried. I plan to continue to take this vitamin throughout the remainder of my pregnancy and while I'm breastfeeding. I feel fortunate that I found this vitamin! Thank you, Amazon.com!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to swallow! Only Once a Day!!!, April 14, 2006

This review is from: Pregnancy Plus Prenatal Vitamins (Health and Beauty)
I have been taking the Pregnancy Plus Vitamins for more than 2 years now. I took them while trying to get pregnant, through my pregnancy, while breastfeeding and now while trying to get pregnant again. They are nice and small compared to other prenatal vitamins, and have a smooth coating which makes them very easy to swallow, and they are very easy on the stomach. I LOVE that you only need to take them ONCE A DAY. Many others have to be taken 3 times a day. I also love the fact that they have no artificial dyes, colors, flavors or preservatives. I have an allergy to artificial dyes and colors and these have been the ONLY multi vitamin that I have EVER taken that did not cause me to get a rash.
As for the odor and taste another reviewer complained about, I did get one bottle around the same time as her review that had a strong smell, but they don't always smell that way. I assumed that because of the all natural vegetable dyes that are used there must have been a "stronger smelling" batch. My next bottle was fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars good product, May 11, 2010

I bought these after trying a few other prenatal vitamins that bothered my stomach, required swallowing two horse pills daily, and smelled/tasted terrible. These are the best one's I have tried. The pill size is small compared to all other prenatal vitamins I have tried. I only have to take one a day. There is a slight odor when you first open the bottle but I don't think it is any stronger or harsher than the smell of any other multivitamin worth taking. The odor has not been a problem for me at all. I have not noticed any aftertaste but I usually swallow it right before I brush my teeth in the morning after breakfast. These vitamins have been very gentle on my stomach (which was the main reason for me switching from other brands). I also like that there is a balance of good stuff in these... not 250% Daily Value of one thing and 5% Daily value of something else which seems to be the going norm for most drugstore brand prenatal vitamins. I have been taking these vitamins for nearly two months and I am newly pregnant. So far so good. I really don't have any complaints about this product.

I had a hard time taking some, but not these. I've been on them for like a year and a half and I still love them. Take them with Mommies bliss dha omega 3 supplements..

Like all vitamins, but especially with these, be sure to take right before eating.

These vitamins have a very strong vegetable odor. I tried airing them out and even holding my breath while taking them but the smell was still so strong that I gagged and almost choked. I am trying to return them.

I'm taking this vitamin now, in my first trimester, and have no problem with the smell or taste. It's a great vitamin and I recommend it for women who have trouble swallowing pills.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good so far, January 15, 2012
This review is from: Pregnancy Plus Prenatal Vitamins (Health and Beauty)
I purchased these vitamins because 1.) the good balance of various vitamins, as other reviewers have noted, and 2.) because in FDA studies these have one of the lowest lead counts of any of the prenatals they tested (0.189 mcg per daily dose... the highest tested had nearly 9 mcg per dose... Big difference!). The vitamin A is all in beta carotene form. I've only been taking them a few days but like them so far. There is a vitamin smell, but I don't find it potent at all nor that different from any other vitamin on the market. The downsides to this product are that it doesn't have any calcium, and the iron is less than the recommended amount for pregnant women, only 18 mg in this vitamin versus the 27 mg that's recommended (I'm not pregnant yet so I'm not worried about that now, but when I am I will have to make sure I get iron in my diet to make up for that). I also wish this vitamin had magnesium and selenium. But at this point, this product works for me!
