5.0 out of 5 stars The best rock band from Japan today, July 13, 2007
By
FRANCIS PETTIT (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Pregnant Fantasy (Audio CD)
I listen to a lot of Japanese rock, and IMHO this band is the best. (I'm sure some fanboy will dispute this and say another band is better, but this is my opinion.)

TSMMR are an extremely high-energy band who are consummate musicians, who always come up with a good riff and a clever, funny, or scary lyric. If I were to tell you that their bassist (Yayoi) is an incredible bassist, that their guitar/vocalist (Mari) is a lyrical genius, that their drummer (Mizue) is an incredible drummer, you'd think I've lost my objectivity in my fanaticism... but these statements are true. Anyone has to find their tasty bass and lead guitar riffs appealing. On top of that, their gorgeous, effortless vocal harmonies, occassionally mixed in with punk-rock screaming and head-banging.

The lyrics are so clever and funny. My CD had a translation sheet, so I could read a bit of the lyrics while they were singing, and laugh my @$$ off. I "got it" immediately. If you have half a brain, you'll get it too.

And by the way, if they ever come to your town, for a live show, GO!!!!! They are 100% consistently high-energy live.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeah!, May 11, 2006
This review is from: Pregnant Fantasy (Audio CD)
This cd is worth buying just to hear "Tea time ska" this song rocks and I can't stop laughing every time I hear it. Listen to the sample and imagine after she does the metal voice a chipmunk like chorus of "ocha cha cha cha...." its great. Best darn song about tea I've ever heard. Not only that the rest of this album is also amazing. Definately one of the funnest albums I've ever listened to. To me Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re sounds kinda like a mix between Shonen Knife and Ex-girl. Check Pregnant Fantasy out, I don't know how anyone couldn't enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Super Cool CD, May 7, 2011
By
This review is from: Pregnant Fantasy (Audio CD)
You will be very happy with any CD you buy from this band. They have such an amazing mixture of influences and a couple traits that are constant; a fun sense of humor and very well played rock. This CD has a few of their signature songs, including Tea Time Ska, which is a riot. If you appreciate good rock with a sense of humor, you should own this CD.
