5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure for those who appreciate beautiful music.
A beautiful collection of the haunting music of Preisner. Why this gentleman isn't widely known is beyond my comprehension. His Tango is a gem as is his music from Blue and The Double Life of Veronique. A must among collectors of sophisticated music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, May 28, 2000

Insightfully beautiful, Preisner's Music is an album of a journey to discovery. The fine tunes and warming notes conjure images of a Sunday feast with loved ones. Joyous, dark, melancholic, and subdued, the myriad of contemplative moments allow the listener to momentarily feel Preisner's passion for life and sound, and to see through his eyes the splendour of a vast landscape that slowly unwinds. Preisner's Music is truly inspiriational.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly beautiful music., October 5, 1998

This is a choice of different pieces by the author of music to such movies like "Blue", "White","Red", and "Double life of Veronique" by the Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski. The music has been recorded in a historic salt mine in Poland, called Wieliczka, with wonderful acoustics, and with accompanying choirs and soloists. The music is hauntingly beautiful. This CD covers not only film music by Preisner, but also some of his classical compositions. If you liked the music in Kieslowski's films, try that CD!

I was striken by the music of the film 'bleu'. Then I bought this greatest as a try. His music is so-o striking! Totally beyond my expectation. Highest recommendation for soundtrack lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this album . You will be surprised !, November 2, 2004
This review is from: Preisner's Music (Audio CD)
This is the predilect composer of Kielowski , that polish genius .
His music reflects the secret and dark poetry of Kielowski in his films . From the Double life of Veronica , and the most of the chapters of his Decalogue . In the CD you will find the Decalogue No. 1,8 and 9 , so the three colors : Red White and Blue: Secret Garden a film of 1994 .

...but what goes really well with this music are the films that match it, especially Damage (Fatale) and Mouvements du Desir. One cannot listen to these pieces without conjuring images from their movies and that is quite an accomplishment for any composer.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st class music from relatively unknown composer, October 15, 1998
This review is from: Preisner's Music (Audio CD)
The best film soundtrack available. All compositions are first class and I advise this CD to all music lovers. Also the relevant films are a "must" for all cinema lowers. Unfortunately the composer is still not known very well since he composes seriously and worked/works with real film directors only. As always popularity kills the quality and that's why the films and their musics become best seller like Titanic.

Preisner is one of Poland's leading film score composers, best known for his work with director Krzysztof Kieslowski. If you want to buy only one CD with his music or get to know his work I would recommend Preisner's Music - the best of the best. I bought it for my friends and they loved it.
