5.0 out of 5 stars Chalk and Cheese Personalities
Another lovely story well up to Patricia McLinn's high standards. A modern-day story of two chalk and cheese people who learn to compromise, and adapt their lifestyles to accommodate the other's needs. To say more would be a spoiler!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Ending, But...
The ending of this book was better than the beginning and the middle combined. I was glad that the main characters, Paul and Bette, found the truth of their relationship. However...before then, I did not like all the sex. Though the author was adept at creating believable emotions in the characters (she in fact is rather good at this), and though she wrote good, clear...

to a series by Patricia McLinn that sounds interesting.

Paul Monroe will always be a child at heart especially since he is an appraiser of antique toys, but he isn't the best boss to have. Before his secretary/assistant has her baby she made arrangements for a replacement through a temp agency.

Bette Wharton runs the temp agency and is a by the book, reliable, organized girl. She realizes that this man is hard to deal with but knows that there is someone who will help him. She also realizes when they meet that there is a connection between them that if taken the right way could lead to an incredible romance. He finds out that sometimes organization can be good and necessary. But that means both of them are going to have to leave that safety box they have themselves in.

This is a light romance that of course has a good ending and if the others are like it then it will be a series that I would love to continue to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable story, January 8, 2012

I enjoyed reading this story very much. The characters were well-developed and the dialogue was excellent. There were some editing mistakes but not enough to interrupt the flow of the story. Although the plot was a bit predictable, watching Bette, who has a strong need for control develop a loving relationship with Paul, who lives in the moment, was very well done. If you're in the mood for a romance with very likable characters, then I recommend that you read this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Ending, But..., January 12, 2012

The ending of this book was better than the beginning and the middle combined. I was glad that the main characters, Paul and Bette, found the truth of their relationship. However...before then, I did not like all the sex. Though the author was adept at creating believable emotions in the characters (she in fact is rather good at this), and though she wrote good, clear sentences, until about 80% in, the story had no plot other than "him getting with her." I finished this book more to see what happened to the characters and how the author handled the ending, than because I liked the story in particular.
