5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy
This is a great toy for dogs. It is durable and my dogs keep playing with it after the food is all gone. 2.0 out of 5 stars Well Made but Too Big
This a well made sturdy product but the holes at each end are WAY too big. The kibble just pours out of it. Granted if your dog eats very large kibble it may work alot better but I feed my dog organic dog food and the kibble does not come in sizes, it is pretty small. I just want to warn people before buyig this that your dogs kibble needs to be large pieces or else...

Like one of the other reviews said, the holes are large but if you put a tennis ball in with the food is inhibits the food from going out the holes as fast. Also I have found if you put a ball with a bell inside of it instead of food it will keep your dog busy for hours. They can't get it out but boy do they try. I have three border collies and ONE of these toys and my boys are very aggressive at play. After a month this toy barely looks used and I use it every other day. Again, great toy and it is big enough to put other things in it besides food.

I just want to warn people before buyig this that your dogs kibble needs to be large pieces or else the toy is worthless. One roll of this toy by the dog will result in their entire meal/treats being on the floor for them to gobble up in one minute. I will try breaking up some bones and see if that works any better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kibble Nibble, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Premier Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble Dog Toy (Misc.)
This is a great toy!! It keeps all of my dogs entertained when I leave them home alone. I do put a tennis ball inside and try to use larger treats as the opening is bigger and things come out pretty fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally...some peace!, January 14, 2010

Let me start by saying I work from home. Now to my dog...if I am home, that means that I am there to play with him and entertain him and walk him and love him. My boss, on the other hand, would prefer that I spend 8 hours a day working on deliverables for our clients. Until my dog and my boss can come to an agreement, I have to do what my boss wants since in the end, that is what keeps the kibble coming.

I have quite a few doggy-puzzles in this house so that I can work in peace. The Hide-a-Squirrel was great but eventually was destroyed. Bones are great as long as you can supervise. Kongs are probably the greatest invention for dogs on the face of the planet. I read about the Squirrel Buddy and Kibble Nibble when I was getting ready to buy a Tug-A-Jug. I tend to give one puzzle at a time so the dog doesn't get bored. I haven't tried the other products yet, but for the Kibble Nibble:

1) My dog is on large breed Iams puppy. His kibble is average sized, not too large. The kibble came out at an acceptable, easy pace but to make it last longer and keep him occupied I chopped up some carrots and put those in as well. The larger carrots help slow down the flow of kibble. At the end, I just dump the carrots into his bowl and then wash the toy.

2) It holds up well to his pawing it around and even dropping it off of the sofa. However, he has tried to chew on it to get the treats out and this definitely was not meant to be a chew toy (teeth marks appeared quite quickly!). When he starts gnawing on it, I take it away from him since usually that's when there's nothing left. I think he could make quick work of destroying it if left alone.

3) The way you adjust the flow of kibble according to the box is to cut off the little prongs on the inside of the ball that hold the kibble in (it's the same with the squirrel buddy) The only problem is that once you do that, you can't put the prongs back!

4) It is pricier than some of the other toys.

Basically, it costs a little more and it doesn't seem able to stand up to chewing like a Kong. But the way that it moves and rattles has been very different and fun for the dog. I would definitely say this is worth keeping in the house if you need to keep your pup occupied when you are doing something, but I wouldn't recommend leaving him unattended for the day with this since an aggressive chewer could probably destroy it pretty quickly. For that, I'm sticking with a frozen Kong or the squirrel dude!

Oh and one other thing--I bought all the large sizes of these toys for my dog, and they are all the same color! (I guess they use color to differentiate between sizes). That's okay but I do wish they were different colors. We have way too many purple toys in this house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good toy, needs some improvements, but easy to do by yourself, April 2, 2009
This review is from: Premier Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble Dog Toy (Misc.)
This is great, finally a toy that can hold all of my dog's food. Like many others have said, the holes are too large, and those rubber things need to be made longer so it is actually a challenge for the dog.

BUT--I stole someone else's idea to fix the problem.I put two tennis balls in it and it easily held one cup of food and could easily hold two cups of dog food with the two tennis balls. (natural balance dog food)

I did find it kind of tricky to fill it with dog food though since both ends have holes :-/ I was thinking about patching one of these up so that it will be harder for them to get their food out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work out for us, May 16, 2010
This review is from: Premier Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble Dog Toy (Misc.)
Bought this treat ball as a replacement for the orange-colored vinyl Omega Paw treat ball. Our dog didn't like the way this hard plastic egg rolled on our hardwood floors. It rolls unevenly b/c it is not spherical and it's noisy b/c of the hard plastic it's made of. So instead of rolling it around, within 30 minutes of playing with it our dog took it onto his bed & figured out how to unscrew the 2 halves of the egg. He succeeded in opening the thing up to get all the treats at once. The next time we duct taped over the center line where it threads closed & he simply pulled the duct tape off with his teeth & opened up the toy again. After only 2 uses we have retired this toy and ordered an Omega Paw treat ball like the one we lost because that one doesn't open in half; you put the kibbles in through the very same hole they come out of when the ball is rolled around.

Can someone explain to me what magic properties regular dog food has that when you make it difficult to get to, it becomes the most highly desired treat ever??? I have a 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriever that is a freak of nature. She is the kind of dog that you can put an entire day's worth of kibble out and she'll just munch on it off and on throughout the day. BUT if you put that EXACT SAME KIBBLE into this toy, she is on a mission from God to get every single piece out this very second. HILARIOUS! There have been a couple times that she was able to trap the ball with her paws and able to twist it apart to get the kibble. She is so proud of herself when she pulls that one off. She'll bring me the open container as a *hint* that I should refill it. If you have a dog that learns by watching you do something, I would suggest not letting them see you screw on the top. That was my mistake. :) The one complaint that I have is that it's difficult to get the threads lined up to close the ball. I put some plumbers tape around the threads and that seems to make it easier to screw together AND harder for my dog to unscrew. I feed my dog Wellness Large Breed dog food. The kibble size seems to work really well with this ball. A piece here or there falls out but it doesn't dump a lot at any one time. I've been laid up after having hip resurfacing surgery so haven't been able to play with my dog as much the past couple weeks. This ball has definitely helped easy some of her boredom that she had been having. Wish I had bought this a long time ago. Two paws up from my Golden Retriever too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, July 29, 2009

If you have ever tried a buster cube, you will love this even more! My basset hound loved her buster cube, but it was difficult to clean, load with food, and it was very noisy. This unscrews for easy loading and easy cleaning. Works great and thanks to the rubber outer edges is quieter than the buster cube. When she is rolling it around it is not as noisy on hard surfaces. Great item!! Would definitely buy again!! She really loves interactive toys and this one definitely gets a big thunbs up!

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT . . ., May 24, 2009
This review is from: Premier Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble Dog Toy (Misc.)
I agree with the other reviewers who say the openings are much too large. (Frankly, I was quite surprised by how big the overall size of this toy actually is.) But I was able to stitch the rubber tips together, so the kibble I use (Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy food) would dribble out slower. At first, my puppy was not quite sure what to make of this toy, but he quickly learned and was encouraged by the kibble that came out. After all, it's all about the food. :)

I suggest making sure the two pieces are screwed together tightly. Otherwise, you could find this toy separated and the threads that hold it together, chewed, making it unusable. Unlike another reviewer, my puppy was able to hold this toy with his paws and chew the rubber bumpers that prevent it from making a lot of noise.

Overall, I think the concept of this toy is a good one, but I also think it needs to be refined -- perhaps it could be completely constructed of the same indestructible material as other Busy Buddy toys, which we love so much.

I received this item, unpacked it, filled it with food and 5 minutes later my dog had chewed off all the rubber bumpers leaving bits of purple rubber all over the floor and I assume in her belly (1 yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback). This toy is worthless for dogs who like to chew or gnaw (which covers a good number of breeds).
