great set of Polnareff's hits,

This review is from: Les Premieres Annees (Audio CD)
I first heard Michel Polnareff in about 1966 when French Rock Blues was released in the U.S. I don't know much French, but a French friend helped me learn & understand the lyrics. I liked his music so much that I ordered some more LPs from France. I don't listen to records anymore, and decided to upgrade to CDs. While this set is missing a few of my favorites, most of them are included. Plus there is a booklet with the lyrics - I can sing along, and I can translate them reasonably well. I would definitely recommend this - I love Polnareff!

I started listening to Michel Polnareff in the 1967. It has been years since I had listened to him but I frequently thought of his music and found myself humming some of his refrains. I decided to get a few of his C.D.'s and this is one that I purchased.I LOVE IT!!!! Although one or two that I used to love are no longer my favorites, most of them have the immediacy, melodic and wistful sensibility as they did years ago. I love playing the CD loudly in my car and softly in my home. It is great music to get you going, to exercise to and paradoxically, it is good music for reflection. I speak a little French but you don't need to know the language to appreciate the music. It will remind you of the old days or the days you wished you had lived in. |
