4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised, does not work with SDHC.
What can I say, this product works just as advertised. If you want to make use of non-SDHC SD cards on your CF device (CF Type II I think, the thicker version), then this is the item for you.

It doesn't work with SDHC cards, but it does work with 2GB and 4GB non-SDHC Transcend SD on my Nikon D70s.

** 12/29 **
After reading others' reviews and I found it unlikely that I had just gotten a "bad" copy of the product. I again popped the product into my computer with each SD listed below, and still was not recognized by my PC. However I put it into my 40d again with my Sandisk Ultra 1GB's and I found that as long as I did not try to format the SD card, I did not get "CF Card Error" from my camera. I can take photos, they do get stored on the card and can get transferred to my computer so long as I plug the SD card directly into an SD card reader. Stars can't be changed, but if I could I would give this product a 4 star rating in light of this discovery.

I bought this adapter so that I could use my SD cards with my new Canon 40D. The card cannot be detected by either the Canon or my PC. The Canon accepts both Type I and Type II CF cards, so as advertised, this product should work. It doesn't.

None of my SD cards are HD. Two are Sandisk UltraII 1gb's, and one is a basic Smart SD 1gb. I've tried both. I've tried formatting the CF card with and without the SD cards inserted, in both the PC and the Canon. Neither can read the card. I will try to return the product, as it is not functioning as advertised.

Additionally, nowhere on the packaging does Premiertek's name appear. Not once. But Datafab appears twice. If you'll notice in the seller's images, there is no text in the green bar on the face of the card. I uploaded a shot of the card I received. Note "Datafab Systems Inc." in that same space. Shady. As far as I can tell, no Premiertek products being sold on Amazon carry the Premiertek name on the product's actual packaging.

The packaging is not sealed, not like the super-tight locked plastic packages you usually find these sorts of products in that you need to cut open with scissors (very carefully). No, this one you just pop open, and out falls the card. I had obviously opened the package once to test if it works. Fortunately, since the packaging didn't have to be destroyed when opening, I can return it nicely resealed to the seller.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit clumsy, but it works, October 17, 2007

My portable photo viewer (by Epson) stopped accepting my SD cards, so I needed an adaptor in order to use the CF slot. I had a devil of a time getting this thing to enter the CF slot on the photo viewer. I had to try it every possible way. I was about to return it when I somehow stumbled on just the right position and angle. Then it worked fine.

I'm not sure if the problem is with the non-conforming size of this product, or the unusual configuration of the CF slot on my photo viewer. But at least it works now, so I'm good. Don't give up if it does not seem to fit into your product at first attempt.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Does Exactly What I Purchased It To Do, November 19, 2007

I purchased this adapter so I can use SD cards in my Canon PowerShot S50 camera which uses CF cards. I have not tried it above 2GB but it works just fine in the camera. It also works fine in all my card reader/writer devices for computer input/output except one which doesn't recognize the SD card in the adapter. The computer gives the message "Please Insert A Disk In The Drive". That reader/writer will recognize either a CF card or a SD card but not the SD card in the adapter in the CF slot. I only mention this because it does show that there can be some situations where the adapter with the SD card is not recognized. For me, it works in my camera and I am very satisfied.

I've used this device with SanDisk II 1 Gig SD cards in my Canon 20D and on my PC. In both devices, the card functioned normally.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me, January 30, 2008

The adapter I received was manufactured by Datafab, not Premiertek. I have not had any compatibility problems between this adapter, a Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera, and a Kingston 2GB MMCmobile Card. This adapter has two shortcomings. First, you have to take it out of the CF slot to remove the MMC card. Second, the notch isn't deep enough to allow you to remove an RS-MMC/MMCmobile card without an MMC mechanical adapter. Even so, this is probably your best option for using an MMC or SD card in a device that only takes CF.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work with SDHC cards, August 12, 2008

Be aware that this card only works with some SD cards. It does NOT work with the more widely used SDHC cards.

I have seen another person that had major problems with this product. I put this in my Nikon D70 and it did not work. Replacing with my CF II card is still problematic. Bottom line my digital camera in which I depend upon is now inoperable. Yes I tried formatting. This product is a major problem with me and I highly recommend NOT buying it.

Updated 01/28/2008 - After some some research on the Internet I was led to look at the CF pins on my Nikon. Indeed at least two pins on the camera appear to be bent. One smashed down completely. Note, I did not "force" the card in but put normal pressure on it. If I am not able to fix myself, the cost to me is said to be $200 from Nikon. Again, beware of this product.

Updated 03/21/08 Noticed that the vendor put a response to this. I would have to caution against buying anything from this vendor. They followed up several times wanting (begging) me to change my review. They ended up blaming me for putting a card into my camera? Nope. Problem was the card.

Updated 04/30/2008 - I sent in my camera for repair and included this card I had purchased for inspection. I just received the repair estimate on my damaged camera and the repair technician included the following verbiage " I'm sorry to say that the memory card adapter that you send(sic) looks highly suspect, and we recommend replacing it, as it could cause problems in the camera."
