Physically, the book is well-produced and durable. The contents appear nearly identical with my older 3.5 DMG. Unfortunately, for the most part the revisions are not identified. It is great to find this new production available for new players at a reasonable cost. Everything that applies to the "old" 3.5 DMG applies here; presumably this will be the last word in the 3.5 product's evolution.

I found it interesting (and a little disconcerting) that the 1.0 edition reprints still feature Gygax's name but the 3.5 edition reprints strip the authors' names from the covers. That sucks.

I guess WotC got a little excited seeing what used copies of the 3.5 DMG were going for on eBay and decided to cash in on some of the action. The fact that they are reprinting the 3.5 edition and the 1.0 edition core books speaks volumes about the commercial situation of 4th edition. I don't think they're going to get the market back from Pathfinder.

The quality of the book is superb, and it does include a lot of the errata that is advertised. As other buyers have pointed out, however, it does not include *all* of the errata that is promised. In addition, I have noticed a few typos that could have been corrected before Wizards of the Coast sent the manuscripts to print. All in all, however, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I fully intend to purchase another copy or two for my players to paw through while I keep my "DM" set carefully preserved.

The extra effort put into these books is immediately noticeable, from tight bindings to beautiful heavy paper and the glossy smooth covers. New and old DM's will find this a great purchase, especially considering how hard some 3.5 books are to find nowadays!

it comes with a map, and a few other lay outs
if you have a dry erase marker, an imagination, and a six pack
this definitely takes the D&D experience to a different level
I would suggest this along with the player manual, and the monster manual
Must buy for D&D explorers
but make sure you have the same volume for all 3

I recommend this book to anyone interested in Dungeons and Dragons.
It is one of the Core rule books intended for D&D 3.5.
It has the guides and rules to aid a Dungeon Master (DM for short.)
It is indispensable for a beginning and experienced DM alike.
It has a durable hardcover.
It has 320 pages (160 total, 320 front and back).
It also has a (roughly) 75 X 55 inch fold-able and reversible paper battle grid in the back. (If bought new, not guaranteed to be there if used.)
Clear, concise text and nice accompanying pictures and graphs.
Excellent in conjunction with the D&D Player's Guide 3.5 and/or D&D Monster Manual 3.5.

"Premium Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide" by Various
Published and distributed by Wizards of the Coast
ISBN = 978-0-7869-6245-7 320 pages

This is often called "Core Rulebook 2 v.3.5". Within its pages are the closest thing to perfection that the 3.5 rulebooks have ever had. In this Premium edition, all errata has been removed, if possible, and entries have been slightly altered to make rulings clearer.

There are eight major chapters in this volume:
1) Running the Game
2) Using the Rules
3) Adventures
4) NPC's
5) Campaigns
6) Characters
7) Magic Items
8) Glossary

I'm not going to bore you with long descriptions of the chapters. But I will say that the Premium volume, with its semi-metallic cover, really stands out in my bookcases. The art is great, as usual for WotC, and is rarely out of place. The basics of what might be called "the ultimate D&D" are all included. In the back of the book are several small maps and map templates, and some color floor tiles. There's also a removable map of a dungeon.

There is a really good Table of Contents and a good index. There's also a list of all pertinent tables, which was a nice touch - it makes the specific info you are looking for easier to find.

Folks, if you play =any= 3.5 or D20 game, you should have a copy of this book. The DMG contains many great hints and tips for running a campaign or adventure. Highly recommended.

In my opinion, this is the quintessence of Dungeons and Dragons. This version is the most versatile and complex, yet easy to master,
of the D&D franchise.

I have a long history of playing home-made RPG games, and one of the greatest difficulties I've encountered is tying two different adventures together. The items and characters from the first are almost always too powerful or too weak for the second. The Dungeon Master's Guide provides an easy solution to the problem.

Each monster and each item is given a rating, which the Dungeon Master's Guide teaches you how to balance with the players' level, so their progress is predictable. Each adventure ties seamlessly to the next.

This way you can take a group and throw them into an adventure confident that they will be challenged, but not overpowered. Victorious, but not bored. Even better, the rules allow for improvisation. It has guidelines for creating your own monsters and items.
