I picked this up at Sam's Club about a year ago and decided that this would be the year that I read through it. I normally read through the ESV each year, but am doing paraphrases this year. I love how there are footnotes whenever the NLT translators interpret a phrase. It will tell you what the Greek or Hebrew says. I also like seeing the dimensions of the Ark in feet instead of cubits. Even with a footnote that a cubit is approximately 18 inches it is nice that the translators did the math for me.

I would like to give this a higher rating, but the binding is so terrible that I just cannot. I realize it is a gift Bible, so perhaps I should make some allowances for that. The TruTone cover feels great -- synthetic, but soft. I realize that I've perhaps been spoiled with the bindings on my ESV Study Bible, ESV Personal Reference Bible, and ESV Journaling Bible. However, it is very frustrating when the Bible refuses to stay open. It takes two hands to read this relatively small book.

The other problem with the binding is more about the way the text is formatted. Each page has two columns of a very readable font. The problem is that it is printed so close to the binding that you have to bend the book backwards to read the words printed on the edge. That means in Genesis you have to bend it way open to the left to see the words and in Revelation you have to bend it way open to the right. In my opinion, you should be able to support a Bible by the spine in one hand and read it. That is impossible with this book.

However, for the price it's hard to beat.

I picked this bible up at my local Wal-Mart. While the one review mentioned states its hard to read the writing close to the center, I've found if you "work" the binding a little, you can see it just fine. Its a great Bible for what you pay for it. Sharp looking TuTone, with the increasingly popular NLT (Second Edition) translation. This is my everyday bible. I use my Reformation Study Bible for thorough legwork but will gladly grab this in a pinch. Great translation for new believers and non-believers so as to not sound so archaic.

I was very pleased when I received this bible. Different style and bound well. I love the New Living Translation, as it is very comprehendible. This particular bible is great for everyday study and the size is perfect, not too small or too large. Red letter as well. I gave it to my mom as a gift, and I plan to purchase another one like it.

I bought a Tyndale Study Bible (NLT) on Amazon a few weeks ago and absolutely love it, but it's a little bulky. So I decided to purchase a smaller bible to bring with me wherever I may go and I chose this one. It's perfect if you need a new bible for a purpose like mine, but I don't recommend it as your primary Bible. The binding isn't as terrible as people have made it seem, but in certain chapters, the words are a little close to the binding. Bending and working it a little takes care of the problem though. It's a great bible for just over $10!

I like this translation a lot; however, the binding will not permit the Bible to open and lie flat nor will it permit the Bible to open far enough to read easily the words nearest the binding.

The Bibles arrived much sooner than I thought they would. They were packaged very nicely and in perfect condition. I will definitely order from this seller again.

I love this particular bible. I get this one for people I am discipling. I love the NLT because it is plain simple english and perfect for people new in the faith as well as seasoned. This bible looks exspensive but is very inexspensive, it makes a great gift.

This book was in excellent condition then the seller really said it was. It was not rated at the highest quality in the item description and thats what i expected. I received more than i expected. The Bible I received had a little blemish with the binding but it wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed.

We found this bible on Amazon and thought it would be a great gift for guys in our Student Ministry because:
1) A Bible in hand is better than none at all.
2) The New Living Translation is pretty easy to read for teenagers (and adults too!) - easy to read improves the chances it will be put to use!
3) The quality was excellent and the price was great!

Working with youth in an urban setting in today's society can be challenging; don't let money be an obstacle preventing you from giving them something that will instill the ultimate Truth, Peace, and Hope in their lives. After all, the Bible is the greatest love story ever told: a Father (God) that lost His children (us) and the actions He took to rescue them because of his unfailing LOVE!

I read the previous reviews about this bible but didn't think that the print could really be that far into the binding to be hard to read, but really it is! I don't use this bible at all really because it's such a bother. Spend the extra money or go to an online religious store to get one about the same price.
