I lost the USB cable for my Olympus SP500Z, and no computer I can find has a slot for the unusual type of xD card that Olympus uses. So I went on Amazon looking for either a cable or a card reader, and found both. I chose the Premium Olympus stylus 730 because it was cheap, about $7. I know, I know, that's often a recipe for disaster. However, the Premium worked right out of the package. The computer recognized it, and I was able to move about 300 photos from the card to my computer very simply. The product is compact with a plastic cap for the USB port, and it comes in a little plasticine pouch. It's a nice white color, and it works. What else could one ask for?
There are similar products on Amazon for up to $28, but, unless I got the only that works, I would recommend this one.

I figured this one would HAVE to work since it ONLY does XD cards. I've got at least a half-dozen card readers, about half of which claim to read XD, but only one that actually works - and it's fickle. So I bought this inexpensive ready to make sure I'd be able to download future images from my Fujifilm camera (the other, compatible, brand that uses XD).

Only used it once so far, but it works exactly like it should. I guess I should give it 5 stars, but it doesn't feel super rugged and it doesn't qualify for the Prime shipping, but it's hard to complain. Recommended.

While the xD Card failed to become as popular as SD Cards, I have a number of xD Cards which contain files that I continue to access. In addition, xD Cards can continue to be utilized as storage media, and therefore being able to access their contents is important to me. The Olympus xD Card Reader allows my xD Card collection to retain its value.

This thing worked great. I had some old XD cards that I wanted to do file-recovery on, but had no way of plugging them into my desktop computer as external storage devices (if they were in a camera, it read as a media device and I was unable to use the file recovery software on them). I just plugged the XD cards into the card reader, and it worked exactly like a flash drive, so I was able to use file recovery to find some lost papers I had written for school.

Just what I needed. I can now get the pictures off my camera with ease. The original Olympus cord got broken and I had a camera filled with pictures that I could not get onto my laptop , and now I can with this adapter. Its excellent. Got here fast too. great little buy. Love it.

I was in a mini panic headed directly to meltdown with out passing go! I went to back up pictures of our first born and when I put the memory card in my laptop it said "Memory card needs to be formatted before use" (ironically I am pretty sure I (for the first time ever) formatted all my cards before use this time to ensure the safety of my data) WHAT?! It's BEEN used!! There are pictures on it! Too many pictures because I let it go longer then usual before backing them up! First Christmas pictures!! Pictures with Grandma and Aunties and Uncles I don't get too see often!! Pictures of my 5-6 month old being handsome and growing SO FAST!!
Fast forward a few months because denial is a great place for the fearful! I scraped up the courage to try a new memory card reader even though mine works for all my other cards and ordered a new USB cable because goodness knows where the original ended up when I packed up my office and turned it into a nursery. Well the reader came first, I closed my eyes crossed my fingers and voila!! It worked!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU LITTLE READER!! If I never have to use you again I would have still paid 1000x your price! We are currently backed up in 2 places too more to follow shortly then I am headed to the safety deposit box!! (Ha, paranoid much, well these things aren't perfect and neither are their users)

I am sure if you aren't in crisis mode it will work just as well you just might not be as grateful and excited!

This little card reader is definitely cheaply made and probably won't last forever, but it does the job it's supposed to do. I needed to download pictures from my Fujifilm Finepix, but my new computer didn't have an XD slot. Enter this little guy!

It looks pretty good. White casing, and not a slick hard plastic feel but more of a rubberized feel to the material, like the back of a Kindle. It has a clear hard plastic cap to cover the USB plug that fits nice and tight. It is a USB 2.0 device. The small size will make it easy to keep with my camera in the case so I won't lose it. Most importantly, it works. The XD card fits snugly in the slot on one side, just make sure you put it in facing the right way. Plugged it in to my computer, and a red light shows up on the reader to tell you it's connected. Downloaded all my pictures quickly enough and with no problems.

So why only four stars? Well, mine came with a crack in the casing, at the gap where the two halves meet. It obviously doesn't affect the way it works yet, but this is a sign of poor quality and leads me to believe that it won't last very long. For the price, this is acceptable, and when it does break down I will probably buy another. I'm happy with this purchase at the low price.
