  • Noctua's NF-P14 fan has become a default-choice among PC enthusiasts looking for a premium quality quiet 140mm fan. NF-A14 provides higher static pressure and an even better airflow/noise ratio than its much acclaimed predecessor.
  • The NF-A14's square 140mm frame with 140mm mounting holes makes it a premium grade replacement for common 140mm case fans & perfect for use on 140mm water cooling radiators, where its square shape will ensure full coverage & best pressure performance.
  • The NF-A14 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise.
  • Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimization) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua's proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan's performance/noise efficiency.
  • Noctua's Stepped Inlet Design adds turbulence to the influx to facilitate the transition for laminar flow to turbulent flow, that reduces tonal intake noise, improves flow attachment, incur suction capacity, especially in space restricted environments.
  • Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads made from extra-soft silicone minimize the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard screws and other mounting systems.
  • Providing 1200, 1050 and 900 rpm speed settings via the supplied Low-Noise and Ultra-Low-Noise Adaptors, the NF-A14 FLX (Flexibility) can be fine-tuned for superior airflow or maximum quietness.
  • The latest version of Noctua's advanced Smooth Commutation Drive system ensures superb running smoothness by eliminating torque variations and switching noises. This makes the NF-A14 remarkably quiet even at very close distance.

The Noctua NF-A14 FLX offers a lot to system builders, depending on what your needs and preferences are the NF-A14 can fulfill them by offering three different levels of speed.

The fan can be used to help cool your system as a replacement case fan, and there it does a decent job. The NF-A14 can also be used with a CPU cooler or even on a radiator to help keep things cool and quiet.

Installing the NF-A14 in my system I did notice a difference in temperatures all around, even the hard drives located at the bottom of my case seemed affected by it. The NF-A14 can be a valuable addition to any system, it will not only help keep things cooler but it can replace those noisy stock fans and help keep the noise down to a more desirable level.

Depending on your needs, the FLX fan can be adjusted via the included adapters, whether you desire silence or performance or a combination of both, the NF-A14 FLX can offer it all.

These are premium fans, obviously. Every fan has handwritten signature from the CEO of Noctua (or more likely, the CEO's secretary or someone else hired to do it, but I'd love to be proven wrong on this.)

You can feel the weight difference. These weigh twice as much as the NZXT 140mm fans I replaced, easily. They include adapters that, on their own, would probably run you 5-10 dollars depending on where you bought them from, including shipping. The cables are braided (obviously). They include anti-vibration mounting that will not irreversibly damage the screw holes, but of course, they include standard screws because 100% case compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

They don't rattle, the bearings won't wear down in 6 months. Even if they do, these fans have a 6 year warranty. That is insanity for a computer fan.

Many good things can be said about this fan. Since you can read those elsewhere, I will focus on my specific scenario.

I bought this fan to replace a Cougar CF-V14HB 140 mm fan. That fan was purchased to replace the stock intake fan in my Lian Li case. The stock fan was an LED fan, so I never even considered using it.

Anyway, everything I say here should be regarded with the caveat that the Cougar had less than 100 hours of use on it, and the Noctua is pretty much fresh out of the box. It's possible that the Cougar might have quieted down after a longer break-in period, since most of its noise seemed to be coming from the motor or bearing.

I did a side-by-side comparison, and it was difficult for me to say which fan was louder (from distances between 0.1 to 0.5 meters). I will say that the Cougar seemed to have more motor or bearing noise, whereas the Noctua seemed to be emitting more noise from its fan blades. Also, the Cougar seemed slightly out-of-balance, when you hold it in your hand (with the power on). Both fans were run at full 12V (i.e. without any attenuator) and have similar airflow specs.

While the amount of (upstream) noise was similar, I feel the character of the noise from the Noctua fan is more pleasant. It's a soft, whooshy hum, whereas the Cougar seemed to have a bit more whine and buzz to it. That sounds a bit harsh on the Cougar, which really isn't bad (especially when I got it at roughly half the price). But it was noticeable enough that I decided to take a chance and see if the Noctua fan was better. In hindsight, I'm not sorry I tried, but I don't think the improvement was worth the full price of the Noctua fan. But if I were starting over from square one, I'd buy the Noctua without a second thought.

I had a pair of Noiseblocker (PK-3 I believe) on my 280 mm rad. My fan controller only has 0V, 5V and 12V settings, so at 5V they were extremely weak, and 12V extremely loud. Having a pair of NF-F12 fans on my 240mm rad, which I normally run at 12V (unless I want pure silence), I thought maybe the makers of the best 120mm fan on the planet could be worthy replacements for the 2x140 rad.

Indeed, the noctuas push noticably more even amounts of air across the radiator (maybe slightly less total flow, but temps are down nonetheless). Moreover, I would almost never dream about running them below 12V, as my case has noise dampening material which makes them practically inaudible.

The only alternative for nutsy silence freaks would be the ULN analogues of these fans, however since I have such a dense FPI radiator, I decided against these and the noise remains quite low even with the FLX version. Happy computer trails everyone!

As always, Noctua makes the very best fan out there. Top-notch build quality, the best airflow:noise ratio anywhere, and plenty of adapters to make the fan quieter if you wish.

Best of all, you get a 6 year warranty... I guarantee you that no other fan is going to last you 6 years. Believe me, I've tried for a long time to find a fan that will reliably last 6 years so that I didn't have to put brown fans in my rig. They aren't out there. If you want a long lasting, top-notch fan, you need to buy these.

The only con, as always with Noctua's stuff, is that brown fans go with pretty much no build aesthetic. If you can hide these away or don't have a case window, it's no big deal, but for windowed cases this might be a deal breaker for some. I hid two away in the roof of my Storm Trooper and I can deal with the one slightly exposed on the rear exhaust.

The 6 year warranty is why you should buy these IMO... I got tired of having to replace rattling fans every year or two.
