I have bought this Rotary brand belt two times so far. The first one I bought came with a bit of material hanging off at the seam, so I was a little concerned but I installed it with no issues in the springtime. Before the end of the mowing season it broke. Next time I ordered one, I figured I ought to change brands since this one really just seemed like bottom-of-the-barrel quality. So, I ordered a Pix brand belt instead, and what I received when I opened the box was another Rotary brand belt. Slightly annoyed, I installed it anyway and hoped for the best. . . True to form, a few months later, this one shredded and broke too. I SHOULD have returned it and insisted on the one I ordered (not that I know for sure if Pix is any better).

It says on the package "Made in Taiwan" in case you are interested.

I strongly recommend that you DO NOT BUY THIS BELT unless you are willing to replace it at least once EVERY mowing season (maybe more). The original belt that came on my mower from Sears lasted several years, but this Rotary brand belt is absolutely of the very poorest quality and construction. Yes, it is the least expensive belt you can buy, but it is definitely NOT A BARGAIN when you consider the fact that you will need to replace it at least four (4) times as often as a normal belt. Sorry Rotary, but this item is garbage. . . what a waste of time and money.

***As for the positive reviews: I suspect that some of them are not actual customers, but product promoters. The balance of the positive reviews (probably authentic) have no followups after more than one season of use. They merely like the price they paid and the speed with which they received the product. If anyone actually has one of these belts last even up to two (2) mowing seasons in normal use (three-plus months of weekly mowing per season), I'd certainly like to hear about it.***

Put belt on my 42" deck craftsman rider during mid summer 2009 --went on well. Belt broke late June 2010. I have a 1/4 acre yard that gets mowed about once a week during the upstate NY mowing season. Simply did not last. I ordered a slightly more expensive belt 174883 Replacement belt made to FSP specs. For Craftsman, Poulan, Husqvarna, Wizard, more. from same amazon partner vendor & hopefully I'll have better luck. If I don't get at least a couple seasons on my next belt, than the savings not worth it & I'll reluctantly pay the big money at sears.

Belt shredded 5 weeks after I installed it....needless to say I will not be ordering another one.

You get what you pay for is always true... YES this belt is cheaper, but my OEM belt lasted 5 years on my mower, this belt replacement that I purchased fit great but only lasted a couple months. It is not equal to the OEM, it cracked and rotted. It is not fun replacing belts, so my advice is get the good belt and do it once every 5 years instead of once every 4 months.

This was by far the most cost effective belt. I have a craftsman mower and had a better experience than with Sears which required two weeks for delivery at a higher price. Mower was back up and running in tow days. Right part, right price!

After reading some of these reviews, it's a bit obtuse to purchase this item. Over the last few years however, I have bought a few. The one I just replaced did last a couple years - I'm happy with that. I mow all around our foothills property, including a couple pastures - over rocks, big weeds, rattlesnakes and anything in my path. I've broken mandrels, guards and damaged suspension parts. For these belts to endure as long as they do is acceptable by me. And... they cost about as much as it cost me in gas to drive into town to buy one. I did get an OE that was a good quality belt - yeah, three times the price. It ripped apart in a month. Nothing to do with its quality - I ran through some barbed wire. It's happens. Just feels a lot better when it's a very less expensive belt.
So, I replaced it with one of these. And it ended up shredding a few months later. I also read a review about this problem. However, when I took a close look at the pulleys I noticed sharp burs -(possible from foreign objects -ya think?) After cleaning them up - the next belt did go two years. Something you might want to check before kicking the dog.
If you were to deduct the costs of packaging, handling and shipping as fast as this thing gets here....That belt is almost Free! What more can you ask for at that price and service - have em install it for you?
I'd give it 5 Stars, but you'd think I was working for this outfit. As cheap as they sell their product - I don't suppose their employees are mowing horse pastures.

Purchased this belt 3/2011 and made my first cut mid May, it was mid July when I discovered several bites out of the belt and fraying. I would have to say I made at least 4 cuts on a 3 acre parcel and now the belt is worthless. I read the reviews and at the time of purchase they were mixed, with that said I decided to go for it since my work is light duty and if I get 2-3 years out of it then it would be worth it.........wrong decsion. Opinion: Go straight to OEM and dont look back!!!

Thanks: This product works and functions exactly as the ad stated. The cost of this replacement (Sears) dwarfs compared to the actual cost that Sears was asking. Belt dimensions, fit, form, and function is perfect. Quality thru and thru. This product, sale, and fast shipping gets 5 stars from this very satisfied customer.

This belt is an excellent product. It was easy to install and works great! The quality seems to be better than the Sears original. The cost, including shipping from "AMC Parts Store", for this belt and another ordered belt ordered for the same lawn tractor were less than either belt would have been directly from Sears. The belts were received in about 3 days even though the shipper was about 3000 miles away using standard shipping. I would recommend this supplier and will gladly use them again.

Wasn't about to pay Sears $45 dollars for a deck belt. This one has been on my mower for two months and so far it's great.
