4.0 out of 5 stars Screen Protector
Great screen protector...fits my Kindle screen exactly and it is easy to apply. The only (slight) negative is that it is a shiny finish, not matte (as the original description stated)like the Kindle screen itself. This causes a slight glare/reflection in some lighting conditions. Overall it is a good value for the price.

I'm just not a fan.

Some people have a knack for installing clear items, like this, on smooth surfaces. I am not one of those people. I usually have a terrible time getting the thing to go on straight and then ensuring that we don't have a bubble problem.

I'm not going to hold my own inadequacies against this product.

It's just that I think it's a underperforming form or "protection" that isn't worth the time and the money. The better alternative is to purchase an actual cover of your choice. (http://www.amazon.com/OCTO-Splash-Proof-Amazon-Kindle/dp/B002BB68ZW/ref=pd_sim_e_5) <--- Oh look, here's one.

It's actually not terribly difficult to get the cover affixed to the DX screen. There was some slight "bubbling" but I didn't find it overly distracting.

While the manufacturer/seller indicates that it doesn't create glare or interfere with the readability of the DX, I think that's an almost correct statement, BUT I can't completely agree. The screen just doesn't "look" the same in the same light as without it. Now, is that a fault...

Well, it depends. The cover that I purchased is not affixed to the screen. Accordingly, the screen ALSO appears a bit different since I'm viewing it through plastic. But, I am quickly used to it. It's just not that big of a deal, for me. For others, I imagine it could be a bother.

What I distrust about the product, and am not willing to actually "test" on the product itself, is exactly how much "protection" it actualyl offers.

Remember, it's protecting the screen, presumable from the main threat - scratches.

So, I put this product over the face of a watch and dropped a handful of change on it, ran a paperclip sharp edge over it, struck it with things made of metal (pen clips, for example) and the product held up well. There was no evidence of scratches on my old watch.

I just think you're better off finding a product that offers protection for your entire device. SPILLS are also a culprit of electronic damage. I remain unconvinced that given the actual coverage of this product, that a spill on the fact of your Kindle DX will not result in some possible damage.

Obviously, the screen protector does NOT protect the buttons, etc. Something else to consider.

I can't knock the product completely for what it does NOT do, but I will say that the useage is limited. Perhaps that is enough for you, but it doesn't make for an outstanding product. I'd like to give it 2.5 stars, but I'm defaulting to 3 because the product basically does as advertised and is easy enough to use - even for a fat fingered clutz like me.

P.S. I somewhat object to the term "REUSEABLE." If you scratch this thing up, you won't be re-using it at all. Also, as with other similar products, once you dinge up the protector, you won't reuse it. It CAN be removed and reapplied, and after 10 reapplications, it was still in space. Watch for curling corners, though, if you do this repeatedly.

I just received my screen protector and it's not all that great. It says it's matte finish and adds no glare, but it's almost reflective enough to use as a mirror. The little installation tool left little scratches all over the protector and the cleaning cloth doesn't remove them, and there's still a few bubbles. I don't recommend peeling it off and reinstalling - the bubbles and scratches got worse. Good luck - I really hope they make another one - Preferably MADE IN AMERICA instead of CHINA.

2.0 out of 5 stars certainly not non-glare, September 16, 2009

I just purchased a Kindle DX for my 13-year old daughter. I did get her a cover, but I wanted the extra protection for her screen. This will be fine, but there is definitely a glare (I can practically style my hair, if I hold it at the just the right angle). It is not easy to apply; after trying for 20 minutes, there are still many small bubbles. All that aside, I am happy with the added protection, but I don't think I would buy this if I were an adult user.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much glare, don't buy it, October 23, 2009

The installation was fairly easy. I started at the top and slowly worked my way down. There was a sticker on each side to make peeling the back off easier. However removing the front sticker proved very difficult and I had to use WD-40 to remove the gunk left behind. And it turns out there are not two layers like I thought, there are THREE layers. A back that you peel off, a front that you peel off after applying, then the middle "protective" layer.

In the end, this product lasted barely a day on my Kindle DX. The glare was horrible. And like other have said, you can pretty much see yourself well enough to shave or comb your hair. Which meant I had to carefully position the Kindle to read without seeing every light source in the room.

This product is now in my trash can. Stick with the default non-glare screen on the Kindle and just be careful not to scratch it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Spoils Matte Finish of Kindle's Screen, December 30, 2009
This review is from: Premium Clear Reusable LCD Screen Protector for Amazon Kindle DX 9.7" 9.7-inch Wireless Reading Device (Electronics)
I didn't trust myself to apply this screen protector properly so I took it to the shopping mall kiosk where I had screen protectors beautifully applied to my cell phone, camera, and iPod. The professional was able to get it on but still had a few small air bubbles visible. My main complaint is that the protector's shiny finish spoils the matte finish of the Kindle's screen, making it difficult to read without tilting to get the non-reflective angle. I only kept it on for two days before ripping it off and throwing it away. It was wasted money, in my opinion. Yes, it would protect the screen from scratches and dust like the package says, but so would a plastic bag. For me it is not a viable solution.

Kindle makes a big deal about the way their screen appears so similar to reading on paper and touts that as a major feature of their product. Putting a reflective covering over it completely negates that special characteristic.

As much as I wanted a protective sheet for my new Kindle, this one would not apply without bubbles. I threw it in the trash.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy, January 13, 2010

Just received my screen protector and tried to install it. First of all it is
not straight so no matter what I do, it overlaps the screen on one end or the other. Very frustrating. Maybe I can trim it, but I feel I shouldn't have
to after spending $7.95 plus shipping for a small piece of plastic.
The glare is horrible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too shiny!, February 16, 2010

It was a real hassle to apply this screen protector without leaving huge air bubbles, and was actually a bit too large to fit the screen. When I started reading with it in place, I discovered that the highly reflective surface made reading difficult. I pulled it off and threw it away.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Piece of Crap!, April 28, 2010
This review is from: Premium Clear Reusable LCD Screen Protector for Amazon Kindle DX 9.7" 9.7-inch Wireless Reading Device (Electronics)
I bought this product , thinking it would be the similar to the Invisible Shield I put on my cell phone screen - NOT! It was hard to put on - It came with a sticker that you are suppose to use to remove it from the sticker backer that will not come off after - left a sticky mess in the corner. I tried to remove it with stick remover and it made the film all smudgy. I had bubbles too and it created a glare on the screen. I took it off and put it in the trash. DON'T BUY !!!
