5.0 out of 5 stars A Big Band like no other..., October 1, 2000
By

This review is from: Premonition (Audio CD)
When i first heard Jason's band live about 2 years ago, I was hooked. Every monday night i would commute to the Village to see and hear, what is in my opinion, one of the best bands in the world today. I became a JL junkie, and if they were out of town, i'd get so disappointed that they didn't have an album out. Now here it is. The long awaited debut really hits the spot, it's not one of those cd's where you only like 2 or 3 songs, its the real deal. My one quarrel is the absence of such amazing songs as "Freak of Nature" and "5 Elements". But all in all, the album leaves you begging for more...do i smell a live album?

5.0 out of 5 stars "little big band sound", July 18, 2000
This review is from: Premonition (Audio CD)
Jason Lindner's debut "little big band" album serves as a "PREMONITION", giving us an exciting glimpse into the future of creative big band jazz. Lindner along with some talented musicians - Omer Avital (acoustic bass), Dan Freedman (drums, percussion & balafon), Kahil Kwame Bell (percussion), Myron Waiden (alto sax), Jimmy Greene (tenor sax & flute), Charles Owens (tenor sax), Dave Schumacher (baritone sax & bass clarinet), Avi Leibovich (trombone), Joe Fidler (trombone), Alex Norris (trumpet & flugel horn) and Diego Urcola (trumpet), all lend a hand to an extraordinary musical journey that shatters preconceptions about what "big band jazz" sounds like.

This latest from Stretch Records featuring pianist/composer/arranger Jason Lindner is refreshing and visionary, must have for jazz purist. Looks like we have a new star on the horizon - "PREMONITION" is Jason Lindner!
