Frampton only made two full length albums for Atlantic Records. While both are awesome albums, this one is the best of the two. It's hard to find on CD! But it appears to be easy to find on vinyl. Best song on this album is the ballad "All Eyes On You". Such a beautiful song.

This record was mostly overlooked by the general public, it should not have been. The album contains some very wonderful guitar playing, great songs, including Lying, the title song Premontion, All eyes on you, some wonderful stuff here. If you are a Frampton fan, and dont have this one, YOU are missing out.

I have been a big fan of Peter Frampton's since he bust on the scene decades ago. I loved his playing then, and I love it even more now. Saw him in concert earlier this year and he was sensational. Back to the album... Premonition is a 'must' for any Frampton fan. I already have a few of his albums before this latest purchase. And honestly, for me, this album does not disappoint. It is straight up and down classic Frampton, with a couple of pop-ish numbers but they are wonderful songs as well. If you are seeking to complete a collection of Frampton's music, you cannot go past this album! My only regret is not having bought this album years ago!!!

WHEN I ORDERED THIS CD, I DID NOT RECALL SEEING THE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CD-R MANUFACTURED ON DEMAND. WHEN I RECEIVED IT, I NOTICED THE PACKAGING LOOKED OFF WITH NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE RELEASE. WHEN I PLAYED IT, I UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS OFF. THIS WAS APPARENTLY A CD-R MADE FROM THE COMPRESSED MP3 FILES WHICH YOU CAN DOWNLOAD FROM AMAZON. I AM NOT A FAN OF DIGITAL DOWNLOADS. I FIND COMPRESSED MUSIC FILES TO BE TOO SHRILL AND LACKING IN WARMTH. IN SHORT, THE SOUND OF THIS RELEASE STINKS. REGARDING THE MUSIC ITSELF, I AM SURPRISED BY HOW MUCH I FOUND MYSELF CRINGING WHEN I LISTEN TO IT. I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF 80'S MUSIC IN GENERAL AND HADN'T REALIZED HOW STEEPED IN THAT SOUND THIS ALBUM WAS UNTIL I LISTENED TO IT RECENTLY AFTER MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS SINCE ITS ORIGINAL RELEASE. IT HAS NOT AGED WELL. NO WONDER WHY IT IS CURRENTLY ONLY AVAIL IN THE CD-R FORMAT. I DO NOT WRITE NEGATIVE REVIEWS OFTEN, BUT THIS RELEASE HAS EARNED ONE. SORRY MSR. FRAMPTON

Best of the 80's,

As a rock n roller, I think the music of the 1980's marks a cultural low point in Rock's history. There were some bright points, however, and one of them was Frampton's "Premonition" album. Sounding VERY 80's didn't keep this from being a GREAT album. Also, having Tony Levin as your bass player cannot possibly hurt! The hit called "Lying" is one of the best and maybe one of Peter's best songs overall. Other songs such as 'All Eyes on You', 'Premonition', and 'Into View'. Some very worthy rock n roll on this album; the song "Moving A Mountain" has a great riff to it and really shows his abilty to come up with great rock riffs. After albums such as "Art of Control" (blah!) and "Breaking All The Rules"...(whatever) it seemed to me on this album that Peter was feeling confident again not just is his song writing, but his singing and mostly his guitar playing. From this album on, you see Frampton just putting his talent out there with no apologies.
This may be one of the best albums of the entire Decade.....and it is certainly one of Frampton's best! I Love it! |
