For fans of surreal fiction,
By Teenreads.com (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Premonitions (Mass Market Paperback)
Gracie knows when bad things are about to happen. Or sometimes when they've already happened. She begged her mother not to board the plane that crashed, and now, living in Washington with her aunt Shay, Gracie has visions that involve her best friend Emily. Gracie would prefer that her psychic powers didn't exist, but when Emily disappears, she has to use every vision she gets as a clue to solving the mystery.
The problem with Gracie's visions is that she doesn't know exactly what she's seeing. Sometimes she sees the past, sometimes the present, and sometimes she misinterprets her visions completely. Assisted by her cousin Diego, Gracie follows her visions in hopes of finding Emily. After a few false starts and a little research, she finds Emily's trail and is taken captive by Emily's kidnapper. Trapped in a guarded house, Gracie has to use her visions as well as her wits to save herself and the others held by a disillusioned madman. Fans of supernatural mysteries may find PREMONITIONS to be a good read, but those who aren't particularly interested in the genre will find it too predictable and jagged. Gracie is unlikable and obnoxious, though her aunt and cousin are interesting and well developed. The kidnapper's motives are supposed to be sympathetic but come out laughable and melodramatic. Recommended solely for die-hard fans of surreal literature. --- Reviewed by Carlie Webber

Gracie has premonitions, visions. She's had them since before her mother's death. She does not want them, hates them, and has no idea what to do about them. Still grieving for her mother, Gracie lives with Aunt Shay and Shay's son, Diego. Aunt Shay and Diego have been tip toeing around Gracie, giving her time to adjust to living with them and to mourn. Then Gracie's best friend, Emily, disappears. The police have no clues at all. Gracie, with the support of Aunt Shay and Diego, must quickly learn not to avoid her visions, but try to make them happen. Emily's life, as well as several others, depend on it! ***** Author Jude Watson is mostly known for her young adult series in the Star Wars universe. But every now and then the author take a few months out to write to write science fiction in OUR universe. Here is one and it was worth the wait! If you have ever wished to have the power of premonitions, this story will cure you of it. Hang onto your seat. It is going to be a bumpy ride! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

When I had read this book I was amazed of how thrilling and interesting the plot actually is. It's very intruiging. It kept me reading, and I was sad to see it come to an end. I was happy to hear that Jude Watson has a second book, which I am exciting about getting soon! If you love suspense, mystery or thillers-get this book!! I could read this book over and over and it'd never get old. Jude Watson puts the story together very well, and everything flows into each other. Also she doesn't leave any "loose ends" really either., which was nice. I truly think this is a FABULOUS book, please get it.

Review For Premonitions,
This review is from: Premonitions (Mass Market Paperback)
Gracie, a young girl whose mother died in an accident and whose father left, is now living with her Aunt Shay. Shay is totally opposite of Gracie's mom and Gracie finds it hard to get along with her at some times. Gracie doesn't have that many friends, but there is Emily, who attached herself to Gracie when she moved in with her aunt and her cousin Diego. Gracie doesnt really listen to Emily that much and doesnt think of her as a real friend and then one day Emily disappears. Gracie keeps having premonitions, which she has had before about people, and she tries hard to find Emily, because she know's that she is the only one that can really do anything, because no one really believes or listens to her when she tells them about her premonitions. It is up to Gracie to find Emily. Will she find her in time, or will it be too late?

A Flawed But Entertaining Story!,
This review is from: Premonitions (Paperback)
Gracie's a young teenager with psychic abilities. She has just lost her beloved mother in a car accident in Maryland and has relocated to live with her Aunt Shay and Cousin Diego in Berwick Island near Seattle, Washington in the Pacific Northwest. The novel is pretty easy reading for the most part and it's targeted to a young audience of readers. Gracie's psychic visions come in handy when her new friend Emily disappears. At first, the story progresses in a fast pace. The truth is a little-far fetched but I won't spoil it for any potential readers. Anyway, I thought the ending could have been better and the storyline could have been more believable. But it's entertaining even if it's fiction with a dash of psychic abilities. I do admire the author for trying to write as if being psychic isn't always a blessing and that psychics like Gracie don't have all the answers when they need too.

Not What I Expected,
By
This review is from: Premonitions (Paperback)
I purchased this for my classroom library from the bargain table at the book fair. It was not what I expected.
This is the story of a girl, who at age 10 has a near death experience. From that moment on she has special psychic abilities. He mother is killed in a car crash and she is forced to live with her aunt and cousin on the other side of the country. She is very despressed and very silent. One especially hot summer day, she is hanging out with a friend, Emily. Emily disappears on the way home. Grace saw something in her mind before Emily left. She feels like she should have done something to save her. She starts trying to solve the mystery and in the process of helping find Emily she helps heal herself. I enjoyed the story very much it was a quick and easy read.

A Book Review of Premonitions,
By jaxmom (Indiana, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Premonitions (Mass Market Paperback)
The novel "Premonitions" by Jude Watson is a plot of a psychic teenager named Gracie that moves in with her Aunt Shay to Beewick Island after her mom dies in a car crash. Gracie lives with her Aunt Shay for about a week, and then Gracie's only friend, Emily, disappears; it is a race to find her before it is too late. My opinion about this novel was that it was very well-written and an easy read. This book did have some negatives, but for the most part, it was remarkably written. Some of the negatives to this book were that the author tended to be wordy, and her pacing was a little slow at times compared to other parts. The positives to this book were the edgy mystery plot that keeps the reader wandering what was going to happen next, a catching hook, and many excellent concrete descriptions. I would recommend this novel to any reader that enjoys mystery and suspense.
