The modified-for-pregnancy poses demonstrated by Jennifer More, the founder of Dolphin Yoga and Doula Center in San Mateo, Calif., make you feel good, even with a big belly, Ms. Goa said. My arms and legs got a workout, and I felt stretched, connected and relaxed. --New York Times

You'll feel relaxed and prepared for childbirth --Fit Pregnancy December 2009 Pg 112

Having practiced obstetrics for over 20 years, I have come to realize the importance for pregnant women to stay in good shape throughout their pregnancy. i have found Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga to be one of the very best ways to stay fit and happy during the pregnancy as well as to prepare one's body for childbirth and the post partum period that follows. A very large percentage of my patients do yoga with excellent results. it is hard for pregnant women to find the time to attend classes and so Jennifer Wolfe's Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga DVD is a great alternative to classes for the busy mother to be. In the DVD, Jennifer also does a wonderful job in making sure the women are listening to their bodies and not do any positions that don t make them feel good. Medically appropriate modifications for each trimester are presented. She also makes it abundantly clear that, as with any prenatal exercise, a woman must be in good health and have approval from her doctor before starting this exercise. Because of this, i recommend her DVD's to my patients and have seen great results from women who have used them through their pregnancies and births. Women report having less everyday aches and pains, more energy during pregnancy, and greater stamina during childbirth as a result of regular practice of this style of prenatal yoga. --Dr. Jan Rydfors - Author of the popular Handbook in Obstetrics and Gynecology

I'm a Prenatal Yoga instructor and mother of three, and I was very excited to get this DVD. However, I was disappointed.

I feel it is much too vigourous for the average pregnant person. It is definately not for those without yoga experience. I feel many of the movements have the possibility of straining the abdominal and back muscles.

Please purchase with caution, and only if you have previous yoga experience with Vinyasa or Power Yoga.

In addition, the production quality isn't the best.

I found the most useful part of the DVD to be the section on partner yoga.

I much prefer The Divine Mother Prental Yoga Series by Anna Getty. Or Prenatal Yoga with Gurmukh.

Happy Pregnancy.

This is the first pregancy yoga video I've found that is rigorous enough to keep me in yoga shape - both body and mind - through all 3 trimesters. Even my non-pregnant sister found it challenging enough to do it with me.

It is long, but you can stop whenever you want, of course.

I love the instructor and her routine here so much, that I'm hoping to find other 'regular' yoga videos from her for post-pregnancy. Very peaceful and flowing, without being patronizing or annoying.

If you haven't done yoga before, this will be a tough introduction, but if you pay close attention to her breathing instructions and watch it once through, and are relatively fit, I think it would be good for you too.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and I've been practicing yoga for five years. Obviously, nothing compares to attending a yoga class. But our schedules don't always afford us the time to do so, or some people do not have access to a prenatal yoga class. Prior to becoming pregnant I practiced hatha, vinyassa and Bikram yoga with four different teachers each week. Since becoming pregnant I've tried the following yoga DVDs and here is my opinion of each:

1. Complete Prenatal Vinyassa Yoga & Short Forms 2 DVD set with Jennifer Wolfe
This was the right DVD for me early in pregnancy (0 to 18 weeks). I love that there are four workouts at varying lengths. This workout is challenging, moving in and out of poses at a good clip. Recommended for those with previous yoga experience. Production quality is mediocre but that does not bother me. The studio where they shot the video must be in an urban location because at moments you can hear the sounds of traffic passing by. If I have learned one thing in yoga, it's that there's an art to ignoring environmental stimuli. Learning to focus inward is a good mental challenge. Jennifer Wolfe is sweet and easy to follow.

2. Element: Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga with Elena Brower
Perfect for me right now, at 20 weeks. Excellent production quality shot in a beautiful, serene landscape. I love that Elena Brower uses voiceover to narrate rather than having the person doing the yoga narrate. She explicitly explains the positions in a lovely, calm voice. I love the style of yoga, moving in and out of poses with breath as opposed to holding poses. I found the workout to be the perfect length, not too long.

3. Gaiam Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea
Professional production quality.

I purchased both this one and the one by Shiva Rea. I have had some prior yoga experience but not much. I found this dvd a bit challenging and monotonous. They spend a lot of time on 3-4 poses that certainly give you a work out but if you are somewhat new to this and trying to exercise a bit while pregnant I think you might be better off with something more mellow like prenatal yoga with Shiva Rea

Of all the prenatal yoga videos I've seen, this is the best. This video doesn't approach pregnancy as a disability, but as a vital and vibrant stage of life.

I am a yoga instructor, and during my pregnancy I absolutely found this video to be challenging, but the modifications shown made it doable up to my due date (although naturally it became more challenging as my belly expanded). As a doula, I was comforted by the fact that Jennifer Wolfe is also a doula and clearly has extensive knowledge about the pregnant body. I never felt that I needed to be especially cautious of my joints as I have attending regular yoga classes during pregnancy. So many prenatal yoga videos and classes don't offer a challenge for the experienced practitioner; this one is a distinct exception. My favorite part was the modified sun salutation. This is the only video or class I've seen that includes this feature (incuding my own prenatal classes!). Definitely, as a previous reviewer mentioned, use a mat with this video, as there are a lot of transitions to and from your knees.

This dvd is truly incredible. I started it in my third week of pregnancy and was hooked! It was the only prenatal dvd that I stuck with because not only did I feel restored and more centered after the workout (yes, it's long but very well paced), but I noticed that my body became very tone and flexible and...dare I say it, even LOOKED better as time went on. My legs and buttocks were more toned than they have ever been -not something I expected to see during pregnancy!
I have had some dance training as well as a brief background in Pilates, so I went into this in pretty good shape. You need to have a fairly good awareness of body alignment to get the most of this dvd. It's challenging, but not to the point where you will wear yourself out. And I would like to add, I gave birth two weeks ago, went through a very traumatic dry delivery, and as a 41 year-old first time mom, I'm amazed at how quickly my body recovered. If I could give this dvd more stars I would. Cannot recommend it highly enough!
