5.0 out of 5 stars if you do yoga, this is the pg video for you
This is the first pregancy yoga video I've found that is rigorous enough to keep me in yoga shape - both body and mind - through all 3 trimesters. Even my non-pregnant sister found it challenging enough to do it with me.
It is long, but you can stop whenever you want, of course.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only for Experienced Yoginis
I'm a Prenatal Yoga instructor and mother of three, and I was very excited to get this DVD. However, I was disappointed.

I feel it is much too vigourous for the average pregnant person. It is definately not for those without yoga experience. I feel many of the movements have the possibility of straining the abdominal and back muscles.

I love the instructor and her routine here so much, that I'm hoping to find other 'regular' yoga videos from her for post-pregnancy. Very peaceful and flowing, without being patronizing or annoying.

If you haven't done yoga before, this will be a tough introduction, but if you pay close attention to her breathing instructions and watch it once through, and are relatively fit, I think it would be good for you too.

I feel it is much too vigourous for the average pregnant person. It is definately not for those without yoga experience. I feel many of the movements have the possibility of straining the abdominal and back muscles.

Please purchase with caution, and only if you have previous yoga experience with Vinyasa or Power Yoga.

In addition, the production quality isn't the best.

I found the most useful part of the DVD to be the section on partner yoga.

I much prefer The Divine Mother Prental Yoga Series by Anna Getty. Or Prenatal Yoga with Gurmukh.

Happy Pregnancy.

3.0 out of 5 stars a bit too much for beginners, May 22, 2007

I purchased both this one and the one by Shiva Rea. I have had some prior yoga experience but not much. I found this dvd a bit challenging and monotonous. They spend a lot of time on 3-4 poses that certainly give you a work out but if you are somewhat new to this and trying to exercise a bit while pregnant I think you might be better off with something more mellow like prenatal yoga with Shiva Rea

5.0 out of 5 stars Doula, Yoga Instructor, and Mom, January 9, 2007
By

Of all the prenatal yoga videos I've seen, this is the best. This video doesn't approach pregnancy as a disability, but as a vital and vibrant stage of life.

I am a yoga instructor, and during my pregnancy I absolutely found this video to be challenging, but the modifications shown made it doable up to my due date (although naturally it became more challenging as my belly expanded). As a doula, I was comforted by the fact that Jennifer Wolfe is also a doula and clearly has extensive knowledge about the pregnant body. I never felt that I needed to be especially cautious of my joints as I have attending regular yoga classes during pregnancy. So many prenatal yoga videos and classes don't offer a challenge for the experienced practitioner; this one is a distinct exception. My favorite part was the modified sun salutation. This is the only video or class I've seen that includes this feature (incuding my own prenatal classes!). Definitely, as a previous reviewer mentioned, use a mat with this video, as there are a lot of transitions to and from your knees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for those familiar with Yoga, September 28, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love this dvd! I was an avid ashtanga yoga practitioner before my first pregnancy, and I have really missed my practice during pregnancy #1 and now pregnancy #2. This is the first prenatal dvd that brings back the great mind and body benefits of yoga for me. I also have the Shiva Rea video (too slow) and Yoga Journal video with Kristen Eykel (I also like it, but not as much as this one. It is also much easier). My only complaint is that the practice is not broken down into segments on the DVD, and it is long, so it is hard to select part of it to do when you have limited time, like during a toddler's nap time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective and flexible prenatal yoga, September 11, 2009
By
This review is from: Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga & Short Forms 2 DVD Set (DVD)
I am now 19 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have been using these DVD's for a month. Prior to becoming pregnant I did regular yoga workouts on DVD's but have never been to a class. Some of the reviews made this series sound very advanced but I feel I picked up the moves very easily with my previous DVD background. The best thing about the series is the flexibility, there are programs of various lengths. Sometimes I do a long yoga workout or I combine a shorter yoga with 30 minutes of walking or elliptical. It helps keep the workout from becoming routine and allows me to fit something in on days when I either don't have much time or don't have much energy. Even if I really don't want to I can usually talk myself into the 15 or 30 min and then am so glad I did. So far none of the moves have been strenuous or uncomfortable and a lot of modifications are offered for trimesters or level of flexibility or experience. The instruction is straight forward without a lot of extraneous talk and I find her voice soothing and easy to follow. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to seeing how I do as I get bigger and bigger. I would recommend this series to anyone interested in prenatal yoga.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exceptionally good instructor, great for yogis who practiced before, July 16, 2007

I was impressed by the professionalism of the instructor as she leads a one and a half hour long yoga session without interuption or getting out of breath. I agree with other raters that this work out is mostly suitable for women who did some yoga before, or who are in a good shape. Even if you start with doing half of it, gradually you will build strength as the entire sequence is designed physiologically correct, with a good knowledge of both yoga and woman's anatomy. I liked the pace and even distribution of more difficult poses and relaxation asanas. It's a great way to continue doing serious yoga without going to your favourite class.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great yoga routine. Some problems with the disk format., May 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Finally, a pre-natal yoga CD that really is challenging. Great workout, but it is definitely for people who are in pretty good shape and have experience with yoga. I've been out of practice for a while, so I was sore for a few days after the first workout.

Two complaints 1) for some reason the DVD suddenly stopped playing in my DVD player. I haven't resolved this yet, so I haven't done the workout in a while. The DVD player plays other discs with no problem, so I suspect it is a problem with the format of the disc.

2) The workout is one long (1 hour 15 minute) track. If you need to pause or are in a hurry and need to skip a few positions, it can be frustrating to find the right place. I do the routine before work, so sometimes it is a little too long (but I prefer that to a short 30 minute workout).

Overall the content of the disk is great. I rated a 4 instead of 5 because of the inconveniences of the DVD format.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great workout for experienced expecting moms, July 18, 2009
This review is from: Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga & Short Forms 2 DVD Set (DVD)
Jennifer Wolfe is amazing. I love this dvd. I have taken so many prenatal classes and am always bored and feel like they are way too easy for me. I really worked up a sweat doing the 75 min practice and felt great after. I plan to do this workout throughout my pregnancy and know that it will help me stay in shape. Jennifer gives modifications depending on your trimester and walks you through the poses, but it helps to be familiar with the poses. It is definitely not for beginners, but for those of you who have been practicing for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great workout for advanced yogis!, March 9, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been practicing yoga for years and when I was ready to do prenatal yoga (at about 4 months pregnant) all the classes and videos I found to be way too easy. Not this one! It starts out slow and gentle and progresses into a wonderful and difficult workout that strengthens legs and arms. I don't recommend for beginners to yoga, but they do explain different positions of the same pose for the different trimesters. I'm so grateful I found this video, I try to do it every other day. But make time, because it is close to 1-1/2 hours long, I often can't make it through the whole thing!
