Misleading answers???,
By Russell A Slininger (Folsom, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prentice Hall Health's Question & Answer Review of Massage Therapy, Third Edition (Paperback)
When taking the exams on the CD some of the answers are marked incorrectly. Then the explanation shows that you chose correctly though it is marked as INCORRECT and some of the incorrect answers are therefor also marked CORRECT but the explanation points to the other answer that is marked INCORRECT though actually right.Poor review by the proofreaders and author makes this CD a poor choice. The book is better than the CD and can be helpful.

Good study guide,

My study group and I used this study guide for the National Certification test for Massage and Bodywork. It was a good reference and helped us prepare better for the test. It was written in a way to help retain facts in an easier fashion. We really found the following study guides just outstanding which we purchased on amazon.com:The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certificaton Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3 The last 3 study guides were so on the mark for the type of questions on the National Certification Test. We used these 4 books and Tortora Anatomy and Physiology as a quick reference and we all passed. This says something very good about these study guides.

Q&A Review's layout was well thought out. Answers are separate from questions so there is no chance to "sneak a peak" before your brain engages. Answers are in full sentances, not just bullet points. Nice reading choice when you use public transport!

Excellent review,

The time that it took for papers to be processed for the exam was waaay too long. I was pretty nervous and had lost some of my confidence about information retention. The questions in this review book are set up closely to the national exam for therapeutic massage and bodywork. The exam includes a lot of Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu questions so I would suggest some extra study on these topics. I did not use the audio c.d. that came with this book...it was not necessary. This was the only study guide that I used along with notes from school and I scored "high" under all subjects.

Awesome review guide for the NCBTMB,

I do recommend this guide to study for the board. Even though I must agree with the first reviewer, the CD has mistakes and should be corrected, the way this booklet is organized is really helpful. All the answers have an explaination and a reference. This is by far the best guide I had, and I passed the NCBTMB very easily the first time, thanks to this review book.
I also bought on massagewarehouse.com the Dr Woods booklet and CD that costed me $59.99. It is night and day! I wrote a review on this guide on massagewarehouse, but it seems that they select the reviews they receive, because mine was never published!!!

Educational book,

This was a book we had been looking for. It is very useful for any massage therapists. We actually had one already but found it so helpful we wanted a copy for each office. You can really find the answers to a lot of your health questions for your clients. Amazon was the place to purchase it. We had looked elsewhere but would have had to pay much more for the same exact book.

it always astounds me when folks who don't study think that by briefly skimming a review book they'll score 100%!!!
come on. this book is a COMPLEMENT to what you should have already been taught in massage therapy school. that's what you paid for right? an education? & it wasn't cheap, right? if you did pay attention in school, this is a fantastic book, easily laid out in test-like format, and with the answers at the end of each chapter. you can see the areas you need more study on. take the quizzes, note your weaknesses, and work on them. don't over-study what you already know. get this at least 2 weeks before the exam, and use it a bit each day. then pass the darned national exam!

i thought the book was ok, but it was not what i thought it would be. i do not feel fully prepared to take the boards for massage therapy. i feel there should be more questions on the disk. The book did help some but not to the extent i wished.
