It wasn't that hard to put together.

My puppy hates it because she can't jump up on the bed since it is so tall, but I love the height...it means more storage space!

I would never recommend this bed for purchase to anyone, nor will I purchase any product from this company again.

Yes I'm a picky consumer. And I did not expect this to be something that would become an estate heirloom or something. And its manufatured well enough. The instructions for assembly were thorough and sensible. All parts needed were included and fit together correctly (one drawer side needed a little drilling by me to correct two misaligned through-holes which, being a mechanic, I had no problem handling but they do have a parts replacement policy to cover this sort of thing). Assembly took longer than advertised, taking me almost five hours in total. You need to take your time because if you rush it you're gonna strip screwholes very easily with laminated particle boards or do other damage as you have to re-do parts that you mis-install, etc. - you get the idea. I took my time and - hats off to mftr - the finished product looks and works as advertised, is solid, supports my new latex mattress very well and should last a long time. Tell you what - the combo of this bed and mattress is way heavy! I was able to move it on my slate tile floor pretty easily before adding the mattress though. Its pretty tall too - which I like though. With my 9" mattress its a total of 31" high from the floor to top of mattress. Drawer slides have good fit and rolling smoothness. Laminate finish (espresso color) is thin and was worn looking at some edges out of the box; nicks and scratches easily. Drawer bottoms are pressed fiberboard - if they get wet, they're in trouble, but that shouldn't happen. All in all, I'm very satisfied. For the price, I thought the laminate finish should have been better.

This is particle board with a kind of cheap "painted wood" (I wouldn't call it "laminate", that implies at least some protection - this has none). The painted on wood chips at the slightest contact, if it's not chipped everywhere by the time you get it put together it will be within a couple weeks of use (e.g. take some shoes in and out of the drawers). If you're unlucky enough like me to decide to live with a few chips and throw away the packaging and then a week later realize there are even more chips accumulating and you should return it, you're out of luck because without the packaging it's impossible to return. I wish I would have bit the bullet and bought a real wood bed in the first place, now I've wasted $500 + the cost of dumping it. Prepac should be ashamed to sell this junk and Amazon should stop carrying it.

I purchased the Queen 12-Drawer Storage Bed.

A brief review:

The Good:
The bed comes with all parts you need to assemble, including instructions and extra screws.
When put together, the bed looks nice, is sturdy enough to hold two adults, and offers ample storage space.

The Cons:
The bed is mostly laminate particle board- as such it is: brittle; heavy; scratches easily; and you must take extra care when assembling and screwing in parts.

The full review:

Three of us worked on putting this bed together. The man of the group put together the dozen drawers with a power drill and hammer while the two women worked on the bedframe with handheld screw drivers. We worked fairly efficiently and had no problem reading the directions. The build time from start to finish was still almost 4 hours.

The laminate scratches and chips VERY easily. I would recommend assembling the drawers on padding or thick carpet, and make room to spread them out or gently stack them as you finish them. Whatever you do, don't drop them. Sadly, we dropped one (it chipped) and scuffed several. The bed frame, of course, needs to be assembled in the bedroom where it will stay. The room we chose has hardwood floors, so at the very start we attached felt furniture pads to the bottom of the bed ends and middle supports. (When the bed was assembled, the pads allowed the two of us to move the bed into just the right spot without any difficulty- and without damaging the floor.)

One hole, for the wood screw to hold the metal support, was drilled just a few millimeters off, but considering how many screw and nails went into the thing, that was not a big deal.

Make sure that all of the screws for the drawer hardware are screwed in flush.

This took awhile to put together, but when you take your time to make sure that you get everything right...it is a great looking bed!! It does scratch easily during the assembly, so be careful. Now that it is together, I don't notice any of the scratches. It was well worth the money. I hesitated a long time because of all the "poor quality" reviews...I wish I had just purchased it right away. It gives us so much more space!! The drawers are not very deep, but we got a lot in it!!

Although I did not purchase this bed through Amazon, I did read a number of the reviews of this product here. After seeing many negative reviews, I was hesitant to make the purchase but decided I needed the storage and did not see many other comparable products that offered as much at the same price point. I am very glad I did make the purchase because this is a great bed!!!!

I was concerned with the many reviews of damaged and missing parts but my bed arrived in perfect condition with all pieces included and undamaged. The packaging was extremely sturdy and seemed like it could take a good amount of punishment.

I purchased this bed because we have more stuff than space and this provided a large amount of storage without increasing the space used by our old bed. The bed is solid and assembly was very easy with clear instructions. The majority of the work was related to building and installing the 12 drawers which was made much easier by using a small ratcheting screw driver and in retrospect would have been even easier if I had purchased a small battery powered screwdriver. The drawers themselves are well made and provide as much storage as a standard size dresser drawer.

All of the pieces fit together perfectly and with the exception the pre-drilled holes on the thin upper and lower side rails being slightly too small. That caused a minor headache because the large bolts that hold the bed together screw into the joiners you place in those holes causing them to be misaligned. In the process of trying to hammer the joiners into proper position, one went completely through the hole cracking the veneer but I was able to repair it with some adhesive and touch-up paint.
