DVD Cabinets - Fairly Good,
By

This review is from: Small Deluxe Storage with Locking Shaker Doors
Bought 2 to place on both sides of the tv. Shipping was expensive, but still overall I'd say this purchase was a reasonable value.
The good: They came on time and had all parts. They were easy to assemble after slight mixups (user error but the instructions could be easier to read). They look nice near modern furniture and feel solid. The bad: They came with scratches and other blemishes that the included detailing markers didn't fix well. The lock/pin is annoying, it's strange to have to lock your cabinet to ensure the doors stay closed. I'd rather have magnets or another non lock device to hold the doors shut. The doors stay almost entirely shut without the lock engaged. Finally, the boxes came with lots of dust/debris inside which made a real mess during construction. Overall, recommended due to storage capacity and pleasing aethetics(minus blemishes) and solid feel. Could use improvement on several small details.

This review is from: Prepac Furniture Locking Media Cabinet Multimedia Storage
I purchased the Ashlin Small Deluxe Media Storage with Locking Shaker Style Doors in hopes of keeping my BluRay Dvds housed properly. Once I put the cabinet together I loved the space and amount of DVDs it holds. The negatives are that the right side has to have the lock on it in order to stay shut. And I didn't bother putting the lock on because it should have had small pre-drilled holes in the door to begin with but it didn't and I didn't want to ruin the wood. So I have to let the right door swing open once in a while.
So overall I give it a 3 out of 5 star because it does allow for a lot of space which is what I wanted but has to have the lock on it to be totally effective and no pre-drilled holes for the lock.

And I thought furniture pieces from IKEA were a pain to assemble...,

Let me just say I have plenty of experience assembling DIY furniture pieces. I put together mostly everything in my apartment by hand. This unit was nothing short of a total nightmare to put together because the directions are terrible, vague, and do not give enough information. I had to redo several sections of the piece while I was putting it together, and it's really a two person job unless you're a contortionist when it comes to attaching the swinging doors to the hinges. I managed, but I guarantee most people will have trouble.
It took about 2:30 hours to assemble, and almost half of that was spent backtracking to correct improperly assembled pieces because of the lame instructions. Once assembled, it's a very nice looking media storage cabinet, but the effort to assemble it almost made it not worth it. 2115|R2TCMJKRHIZ3PF;2115|R7DDBQJF8MZPS;2115|R3DPLFQ1412T6O;
