not bad for the money,

I knew from the other reviews that this storage headboard was not going to be the best quality. I had no problems putting it together, but it came scratched (on the front piece!) and the way the front moldings went on was sketchy. The plastic joining part for the front moldings broke off and could not be tightly joined in the front. Nonetheless, it looks pretty good (most people haven't noticed the part that is broken and doesn't fit together well)and is the perfect solution to our problem of needing storage for books, glasses, clocks, etc. at bedside without nightstands. Another design improvement would have been to put electrical cutouts in the backing material...

This headboard is a great price, it's functional, and looks very stylish once it's put together. It is a spacesaver if you have a narrow bedroom like we do, which can not accomodate nightstands. Assembly is not too difficult if you have assembled something before. Some of the pieces are very fragile until they are put together. Just take it very slowly, read the instructions carefully, and get some help with the large parts. I assembled the king headboard right on top of our bed, it was the most comfortable place to do so, and then it was easy to transfer it to the floor, with help from my husband. In addition, I cut two holes in the back board as pass throughs for electrical cords, using a hole cutter on my drill. It is better to drill the holes before you tack on the back, as this will protect the thin finish better. Just hold up the back to the assembled headboard case, measure and mark where the holes are needed, and then move the back to a safe place on the floor where you can drill the holes. Drill slowly, and you will have a good result. We are very pleased with this headboard.

Pros:
- Good looking - Doesn't feel cheap (after assembly) - Fairly easy assembly (be carful on the hammering parts. I hammered the plastic pegs in a little to hard and put a small dent in the top board of the unit.) - Inexpensive - FREE shipping! Cons: - The finish comes off VERY easily. Mine had several gouges and scratches right out of the box. - The MDF is too thin to last more than a few years. (I would only buy this piece if you're expecting to replace it 2-5 years.) - You cannot set drinks or get the headboard wet in any way (according to the instruction manual) or the MDF will disintegrate. Four stars for the extremely cheap finish. If this unit simply had a better finish it would be a five star piece I could recommend to anyone. As it is, though, I would still recommend this unit to anyone looking for an inexpensive headboard for a bedroom.

The box was very heavy (took two people to get it inside). It took a while to put together because of how much you have to do. Once all was said and done, we love it. It's beautiful, good quality and Amazon was the cheapest place we found it. We would buy it again, but I would make sure I have someone to help carry it :o)

Headboard looks great... we have the platform bed as well, but it really would look good with just a mattress on one of those metal bed frames (don't use the box springs, though... or you'll block some of the shelving). But, I highly recommend. Super easy to put together, too!

i bought this headboard for my apartment, its great! The finish is beautiful and matches my other furniture perfectly. It comes in a HUGE box that is impossible for a small person like me to carry but is easy to assemble (if you follow the directions really closely). one of the down sides of the headboard is the finish isnt on all sides so its something to watch while assembling. Wood is nice but not real thick will last for at least three years and great for a starter headboard.

We got the espresso storage headboard in Queen/double size. It fits the bed fine and the measurements given online were correct. Storage headboards are a great solution for tight spaces where a night stand won't fit. This one has plenty of storage space and looks very nice. As others mentioned, we had to cut holes in the backing for electrical cords. Lucikly we have a hole saw that worked perfectly with the cordless drill we used for faster assembly. Assembly was pretty easy with only a couple of confusing diagrams since none of the pieces were labelled as to what piece number they were. You can leave out the center horizontal shelf if you want all of your cubbies to be the same height. I found the lowest price including shipping for this on Amazon. For the price, it is great.

Nice looking headboard on a budget!,

I bought this headboard hoping to replace my lack-of-headboard situation with something affordable and decent looking. I'm more than happy with my purchase...the headboard was easy to assemble, and looks great! Other posters mentioned that the finish is pretty thin and can easily get chipped, which is definitely true. I was lucky in that none of the chips were visible once the headboard was assembled, so I have no complaints. If you want a really nice quality wood, or a headboard that can be a family heirloom, this is most certainly not your best bet. However, if you are looking for something that can look nice and do the job on the cheap, I would highly recommend this product!

This headboard would be fine, but it did not come with mounting brackets to attach it to the bed that it is recommended to go with... There is also about a centimeter of overlap that keeps the bedframe from nesting properly between the moldings.
It was really easy to put together. If I could mount it properly to the bedframe, I would give it 4 stars. |
