Increase bedroom storage with this king-sized platform storage bed. From Ready to Assemble (RTA) home furniture leader Prepac’s Sonoma collection for the bedroom, the platform bed contains three drawers on each side of the bed for a total of six. The 20-inch deep drawers are great for stowing pajamas, socks, extra blankets and sheets, or bedtime reading materials. With its sleek black finish, the bed frame adapts to contemporary and more traditional décor alike.
The bed frame is crafted out of laminated composite wood. For even weight distribution and ample support, sturdy plywood slats run vertically under the mattress, reinforced by metal braces. Drawers glide out on metal tracks with built-in stops for safety. While the bed frame requires separate mattress purchase, the platform design eliminates the need for a box spring. Prepac offers a matching storage headboard and other complementary bedroom pieces. Shipped flat with foam injection packaging, the platform frame comes with all necessary hardware and instructions for adult home assembly. Wipe the platform bed clean with a damp cloth. For faulty parts, consumers benefit from a one-year, free part replacement program. Prepac covers this item with a 5-year limited warranty. Assembled, the king platform bed measures 81-3/4 inches long by 78-1/2 inches wide by 18-3/4 inches high.

Our King Platform Storage Beds combine extra large drawers for plenty of storage space with a slat support system that requires only a mattress. Wood slats are positioned lengthwise to distribute body weight evenly, minimize the amount of motion transfer and take the place of a box-spring. Metal braces under the slats provide additional stability. Underneath are 6 large storage drawers (20” depth) that run on smooth running metal drawer glides. Drawers open easily with finger pulls located at the bottom of drawer fronts and knobs have been eliminated to prevent bedclothes from catching. They are large enough to hold anything you need to store: linens, blankets, clothes, socks and even shoes are just a few ideas. Coordinate with the King Headboard and other Prepac bedroom furniture pieces. Overall bed height is 21” if used with an 8” thick mattress. Available in two attractive finishes: Black and Espresso overlay laminates. This product is made from composite woods with plywood slats. It ships flat-packed (in three cartons) and self-assembly is required. Detailed and easy-to-follow instructions are included.

I got this in Oct of 2009. It came in several boxes (2 or 3, can't remember). Everything was very well packaged, no damage, scratches or missing pieces. The assembly took a bit of time as I did it solo. Still, not terrible difficult. I suggest reading the directions before, lining things up and then attaching them. Take your time to make sure that the pieces are facing the right way.
I've had not a single issue in the year plus I've been sleeping on it. It's so solid that it hadly creaks when I get into bed. I'm not a little guy either. the drawers I use to store sheets and clothes I don't wear much so I'm not using them every day. The only issue I had with them was I over stuffed one and had to refit the bottom into the grooves. SO, I highly recommend using Gorilla glue in all the joints when you assemble the drawers. One last thing...assemble this in the exact spot where you want it. It's so damn heavy once complete and you can put a ton of stress on the joints if you try to move it and the drawers can be put out of line. Over all I'm very impressed with the product, especially considering the price. I bought a "mattress in a box" from another website. It's a king, spring mattress rolled into a small box. Seriously. It's the best mattress I've ever owned. I got my king bed for well under a grand and it's amazing. (I have back issues too!)

We got this bed in a bundle with the king storage headboard in attempt to rid our bedroom of all extraneous furniture. Well, the headboard is very front-heavy, and you need to attach the bedframe to it for stability. So, I line them up -- and the bed is 1" too wide! So this great bed set that I spent -- 700 or so dollars on? -- needs hacksaw and dremel work to make it stable. I have the injuries to show what happens if you don't attach the headboard properly.
If you are getting JUST the bed, it's a pretty good bed. The wooden slats aren't all flat (have persistent bends), which makes assembly difficult (you don't just lay the slats on top like other beds). Some of the drawers don't end up flush against the bed, and no amount of tweaking seems to fix it. And to tweak? Well, you pretty much have to take the bed apart (a 2-hour ordeal to see if you can adjust a drawer caster -- just to adjust it and find it makes no difference). Other than that, it's pretty solid.

I am perfectly happy with this bed, it is exactly what it said it would be. The instructions for assembly could have been better and more clear, but with some focus and attention to detail, it is easy enough to figure out.
