After mashing the potatoes, I clean the masher, dry it and flip the head so that it fits flat in the storage drawer.

This is one of the smartest purchases I've made. It fits nicely in a drawer without taking up too much space. The hinged mechanism works great, and seems like it will hold up to wear and tear (feels well made). The heft of the masher is nice and it fits well in my hand. As for it's mashing ability, it works perfectly and quickly, almost ricing foods. Have used it on beans and potatoes and it really does the job. Happy with this and think you will be too if you buy it. The only thing that could make it better would be if it had a hole knotched in to hang on a hook, but that's just my preference.

The flat storage is what I was looking for, since a standard masher is too bulky. It's a tool I don't use frequently, and I don't want it to take up a disproportionate amount of my kitchen drawer space. The masher itself is a good quality tool, which I just used to mash a pot of carrots for soup. All in all, money well spent.

This item is very sturdy, mashes potatoes, and flips to take up less room in the drawer. I was skeptical about how sturdy it would be with a flipping mechanism. I thought it would flip when I didn't want it to. In fact, it is very solid.

I bought this after reading about it in Good Housekeeping, they rated it number one in a test. My old one (made of wire) got bent up and the handle was too short and skinny.

The best part is the head flips so it goes flat and fits into my gadget drawer. My old masher used to jam the drawer so I couldn't open it without fishing a chopstick in there to dislodge it.

This one has a "domed" head, big comfy handle and works great on potatoes and sweet potato. Recommended, especially if your tool drawers are getting full like mine!

Works great. As shown, it collapses for easier storage in a drawer. I was a little wary that it would collapse if I pushed to hard into a big bowl of spuds, but it locks open and closed so no accidental folding. The handle is made of smooth plastic but the shape ensures you get a good grip for mashing. The diameter is nice - large enough to mash a pot of potatoes and small enough to fit in a small bowl of cooked apples that I'm turning into applesauce. I even like that the holes in the masher are round. My last masher had square holes and that gave me tons of lumps whereas this one doesn't. Overall, a great buy if you need a masher.

This is a perfectly serviceable masher, but what sets it apart is the flip design that makes it easy to stow, and retrieve from drawers full of kitchen implements. It's nice not having to play tug of war to liberate this from among the wooden spoons and spatulas.
The flip mechanism is not "gadgety" (read: going to break after one tough use) - the design is simple and sturdy. This will last a while. The handle is textured and easy to grip even with slippery hands.

This flip masher has been just that - a flipping masher. I took a pot full of cooked potatoes and started mashing them with ease. The little round holes act like large ricers and do the job we all expect. After mashing the potatoes, I clean the masher, dry it and flip the head so that it fits flat in the storage drawer. That is not much, but it sure is handy and it keeps the other tools from getting stuck in the masher face. If that were not good enough, the handle is ergonomically suitable for most hands. Before I forget, the masher is held in place by the two braces on either side of the fork and when it is time to put it in the drawer a slight squeeze on the side permits the masher head to flatten out and stand ready for the next go around.

Overall, a nice masher that is full of features. If I could just get it to mash on its own.
