This book is a total waste of money. The books contains numerous inaccuracies and the answers to many of the practice questions are wrong! You would be better served to go to the NY Department of State's web site to the notary section that tells you what you need to know. Ms. Pierre-Fleurimond should be ashamed of herself!

This book will be helpful for someone who knows nothing about the documents a notary will be executing. If you have legal experience, the booklet available for free from the Department of State is sufficient.

Format: Perfect Paperback
I recommend this book. In five chapters it covers all of the NY state notary public law topics. Each chapter includes the exact facts that you need to know for the exam. Then each chapter ends with 10 review questions. Then there are four practice exams with 20 questions each. (So that means 130 questions, not including the "Questions Commonly Asked by Notaries" at the front of the book.) The practice exam questions are similar to those on the NY state test. This book is good to use after having read the NY notary public law from the NYS Division of Licenses website. If you use it alone, because the book is so simple and straight forward you may not realize the importance of certain details. There are two other good books for the NYS notary exam. The one by Piombino, Notary Public Handbook : A Guide for New York (4th Ed.), is too detailed for some. Questions in Piombino's book were more complicated than those on the exam. The book by Tropea, Pass The New York Notary Public Exam 2010 Edition: Notary Public Law, Legal Highlights, 225 Questions + 2 Practice Tests, is primarily a book of questions (flashcards) and the format at the front that explains the law is ok, but could be improved. Pierre-Fleurimond's book has a simplicity and format that are cohesive. Some may prefer the format of Tropea's book and the simple explanation of the law. But I had already read the law and was able to recall it in my mind when reading Pierre-Fleurimond's book. I borrowed this (and the other books) from my local library. The current (as of this review) listed price of forty dollars is too high. Particularly with Tropea's book currently listed under twenty dollars. Still, I recommend this book as a reference prior to taking the New York state Notary Public exam.

This book provides everything you need to know for the test. It's simple & if you go through this book & answer questions correctly you'll easily know when you're ready to take the test. 2 times though & you'll breeze through it!

In response to the reviewer who said it was inaccurate, There were about 5 answers where I was sure were wrong but when read carefully I found that they were correct. Regardless, it's everything the beginner needs to know to pass the test!

Good Luck!
