Lorin Cartwright, MS, EMT, ATC, CAA, is the athletic director at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since she became certified as an athletic trainer in 1980, Lorin has put her knowledge and experience to good use by helping numerous students study for and pass the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) certification exam. Not only has she served as an examiner for several NATA exams, which has given her insights into common errors students make on the test, but she also has taken numerous certification tests herself and learned firsthand about test-taking strategies and skills.
Lorin received an MS in education from the University of Michigan in 1981. She is a member of NATA, the National Interscholastic Athletic Administration Association, and the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society. She earned the NATA Distinguished Service Award in 1999 and in 2000 and became a certified athletic administrator (CAA).
In addition to being a frequent speaker at NATA national clinical symposiums, Lorin is the author of several articles on injury prevention. In 1994 she became the first woman, as well as the first high school athletic trainer, to be elected president of District IV of NATA. She is also the coauthor of Athletic Training for Student Assistants. In 2001, she was honored as part of the inaugural class of distinguished alumni in residence at Grand Valley State University.

Irrelevant and outdated,

This review is from: Preparing for the Athletic Trainers' Certification Examination (Paperback)
This study guide is not updated to the new NATA format especially concerning the oral practical. The mulitiple choice questions were completely irrelevant.

Can be a good review if used correctly,

This review is from: Preparing for the Athletic Trainers' Certification Examination (Paperback)
This book is outdated, but does offer a wide variety of multiple choice questions. You MUST use it as a review and a means to spur new thought and point you in new directions of study. Don't think that reading it cover to cover and learning the answers will help you. Take the tests, find out what you got wrong, and focus on those areas. The Oral section is totally outdated. Your best bet is to read books like Arnheim cover to cover. Talk to ATC's in your school or your area to get their insight. I completed an internship (which is quickly becoming a thing of the past), and after reading countless books passed the written and written sim with flying colors. Don't neglect the practical. I thought this would be the easy part and blew it off. It came back to get me when I failed by 2 points. GOOD LUCK!!

I thought it was a good compact book that could go places with you. It also has good study questions.
