Mike Gendron is a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and deeply concerned for the souls of men. -- Dr. John Walvoord, Chancelor, Dallas Theological Seminary

Mike Gendron will challenge you with a message that is unique in its courage as well as its insight. -- Dr. Page Patterson, President, Southern Baptist Convention

Mike's motivation is not to condemn but to provide deliverance from faith in a religion to faith in Jesus. -- Dr. Dave Reagan, Evangelist, Lamb and Lion Ministry

More About the Author

For over 30 years, Evangelist Mike Gendron was a devout Roman Catholic and a strong defender of the "one true church." He was taught from a very early age, to trust and rely on the church, its priests, the sacraments and his own good works for salvation. However in 1981 while attending an evangelical seminar, he realized the Bible is the supreme authority for knowing truth. His new excitement and hunger for the inspired word of God led him to help organize the very first Little Rock Scripture Study at a Catholic Church in Dallas. Mike soon realized that many of the teachings and traditions of the Catholic religion were not found in the Bible. After more study he discovered the Roman Catholic plan of salvation was diametrically opposed to the Gospel of grace that is revealed in the Bible. After discerning that God seeks worshippers in spirit and truth, Mike left the Catholic Church in 1985 for a church where the true Gospel is proclaimed and the Scriptures are the final authority in all matters of faith.

In 1988 he left a successful career in corporate management to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. Four years later, during his last semester at DTS, Mike and his wife Janeʼs love for Catholics inspired them to begin a ministry that would point Catholics to the Lord Jesus Christ as their all sufficient Savior. Their hearts are now burdened for those who may be where they were for most of their life - eternally condemned and not even aware of it. Their international ministry, Proclaiming the Gospel, which is now 22 years old, has developed many resources to equip and encourage Christians to be effective witnesses to Roman Catholics. It is interesting to read all of the pro-Catholic comments on here. Besides 1 of the reviews who actually gives examples in the book, all the other comments are, "this is the same anti-catholic hater-aid that keeps on going around." Its interesting that 1 of the reviews says, "there is no contradiction between the catechism and the scriptures." Are you kidding me? did you actually read this book? I looked many of the references in the catechism and they clearly, black and white, contradict scriptures. If you want examples of it, why don't you READ THE BOOK. it is full of contradictions between the catechism and scriptures. I have doubts that many of the pro-catholic, anti-Mike Gendron reviewers actually took time to read this book.

Here's what I suggest: read the book thoroughly, and look up the references of the catechism and the scriptures. With an OPEN MIND, decide whether or not they are contradicting each other. If you decide that they do, then you need to decide whether or not to trust in a statement of faith that the catholic church decides is what they believe in, or the holy scriptures, which is God-breathed. This book is filled with contradictions between what Catholicism teaches and what the Bible teaches. Not sure why everyone is getting so defensive about their Catholic faith. If you truly believe the Bible is the Word of God, you should feel convicted that Catholicism teaches a false gospel.

This is a great book. I like facts only and this book is scripture verses catechism. No opinions, just facts. The Reformation is when the bible was changed...by catholics! The Apocrypha books (7 extra books) were added in 1546 by the Council of Trent. Please research this for yourself. The Jews had the "true" old testament and they rejected the Apocrypha as scripture. See it pays to work off of written facts not what you have heard.

F.Y.I. Take a look at your CCC 841!! You might be shocked at what you find. Please read things for yourself; Take heed that no man deceives you! Always judge other books (including the catechism) by the scriptures in the bible. God Bless.

One would think that this book is exclusively for Christians in order that they would be better equiped to address some important issues and differences between Biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism. Having been a devout Roman Catholic, Mike Gendron goes deeper. Roman Catholics are very laking in what the Bible really says. Few read it. They assume that what the church says is Biblical. Gendron shows Catholics what the Roman Catholic church really teaches, how inconsistent with its own teachings it is and how unbiblical many of its beliefs and traditions truly are.
If a Roman Catholic is sincere about learning more about the Biblical Jesus. If he/she truly desires to have a relationship with this Jesus instead of just having "religion;" This is the book for them.
It is not Mike Gendron's opinion that is expressed. He extensively quotes the Bible and the Roman Caholic Catechism in order to get at truth.
P.S. For 46 years, I too was a Roman Catholic.

To those who think I am a trouble maker,I am not.As a reviewer said, you have to make a decision.A decision to whether follow God/Christ or follow man.You cannot defend Catholicism blindly, not knowing what it is.Nowhere in the Holy Bible will you read about a Pope, purgatory, the worship of Mary and the saints, penance, and so on.Read the New Testament first, then read Mike Gendron's book Preparing for Eternity.(after death you won't get another chance!)Sorry for this cold statement! For those who are willing to "listen",for those who are really looking for God,for those who want to go to heaven...throw away your pride..."Pride comes before destruction."(Proverbs 16:18)."Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,and He will exalt you in due time".(1 Peter 5:6)."...because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us".(Romans 5:5b).

What a great read. The author does an incredible job citing both what the Catholic Church teaches and what the Bible teaches. Thus doing so essentially removes all opinion and let's the reader see the problematic doctrine that the RCC has in light of God's Word. I am so appreciative of the author doing all the background work and allowing me to then know exactly where to go without spending hours of searching.

I highly recommend this book to both Catholics and those that have a heart to reach Catholics with the gospel.

I would like to make a comment that of all the negative reviews for this book, only one negative review actually comments on the book's content specifically and appears to have truly read it. Sadly the other negative reviews simply seem to be using this book review listing as a place to share their frustration with those that are confronting the RCC with God's Truth.

When Jesus was tempted of the devil he quoted scripture because the Bible is the final authority on all matters.

As an ex-catholic myself, I find catholics to be very closed minded relative to spiritual matters. Its because the god of this world (satan) has blinded them to the truth 2Cor4:4. Catholics are also lazy and lukewarm in wanting to know the truth. They also follow rome whom has been apostate since Constantine. But catholics don't care about their church history ridden with forced conversions and bloodshed (40 million tortured and killed) and countless bibles burnt. Let alone what the vatican ordered during WW2 in Croatia as Avro Manhattan documented in the Vatican Holocaust.

Mike Gendron puts the heresy of the catechism in easy to read and understand format how the doctrines of the vatican are anti-bible and anti-Holy Spirit who moved men to give us the scriptures per 2Peter1:21. The catholics I give this to don't read it because they could care less of what the truth is. But I keep giving it out praying that they come to the knowledge of the truth. It grieves me that they could care less on their eternal destiny and rewards for following Jesus.

Mary was a Jewish peasant woman who was under the Mosaic Law and a sinner and she gave a sacrifice when Jesus was born per Luke 2:22-24 and we see from Leviticus Chapter 12 that the offering was for her sin. The bible is final authority on all matters just like Jesus quoted scripture when tempted of the devil. The pope says otherwise.

Who do you believe? The Bible that was written by the Holy Spirit (2Peter1:21) or the pope?

Who do you follow? God and his Bible or the pope?
