Book Description

April 1, 2002
The book presents an objective contrast between the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church and the Word of God. It is an excellent discipleship manual for Roman Catholics who have not discovered the narrow road that leads to eternal life. The book prepares the reader for eternity by showing how the Lord Jesus Christ is sufficient to save sinners completely and forever. The author knows his subject well, having spent 37 years in the Catholic religion. He presents the truth in love with compassion for those who are where he once was, destined for a Christless-eternity and not even aware of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book that gives solid info, August 31, 2010

This review is from: Preparing for Eternity (Paperback)
It is interesting to read all of the pro-Catholic comments on here. Besides 1 of the reviews who actually gives examples in the book, all the other comments are, "this is the same anti-catholic hater-aid that keeps on going around." Its interesting that 1 of the reviews says, "there is no contradiction between the catechism and the scriptures." Are you kidding me? did you actually read this book? I looked many of the references in the catechism and they clearly, black and white, contradict scriptures. If you want examples of it, why don't you READ THE BOOK. it is full of contradictions between the catechism and scriptures. I have doubts that many of the pro-catholic, anti-Mike Gendron reviewers actually took time to read this book.

Here's what I suggest: read the book thoroughly, and look up the references of the catechism and the scriptures. With an OPEN MIND, decide whether or not they are contradicting each other. If you decide that they do, then you need to decide whether or not to trust in a statement of faith that the catholic church decides is what they believe in, or the holy scriptures, which is God-breathed. This book is filled with contradictions between what Catholicism teaches and what the Bible teaches. Not sure why everyone is getting so defensive about their Catholic faith. If you truly believe the Bible is the Word of God, you should feel convicted that Catholicism teaches a false gospel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for Roman Catholics, March 15, 2004
By
Jose E Oller (Dallas, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Preparing for Eternity (Paperback)
One would think that this book is exclusively for Christians in order that they would be better equiped to address some important issues and differences between Biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism. Having been a devout Roman Catholic, Mike Gendron goes deeper. Roman Catholics are very laking in what the Bible really says. Few read it. They assume that what the church says is Biblical. Gendron shows Catholics what the Roman Catholic church really teaches, how inconsistent with its own teachings it is and how unbiblical many of its beliefs and traditions truly are.

If a Roman Catholic is sincere about learning more about the Biblical Jesus. If he/she truly desires to have a relationship with this Jesus instead of just having "religion;" This is the book for them.

It is not Mike Gendron's opinion that is expressed. He extensively quotes the Bible and the Roman Caholic Catechism in order to get at truth.

P.S. For 46 years, I too was a Roman Catholic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is Power!, February 14, 2007

This is a great book. I like facts only and this book is scripture verses catechism. No opinions, just facts. The Reformation is when the bible was changed...by catholics! The Apocrypha books (7 extra books) were added in 1546 by the Council of Trent. Please research this for yourself. The Jews had the "true" old testament and they rejected the Apocrypha as scripture. See it pays to work off of written facts not what you have heard.

F.Y.I. Take a look at your CCC 841!! You might be shocked at what you find. Please read things for yourself; Take heed that no man deceives you! Always judge other books (including the catechism) by the scriptures in the bible. God Bless.
