I was somewhat disappointed, even though I did pick up a few wonderful tips which I might not have otherwise. The cover definitely shows a violinist performing, yet the author Jane Firmunn Hollander is a cellist. Up through page 30, I can apply her teachings, but pages 31 through 34 are definitely written for the cellist, with the full page sheet music "Tarantella/Violoncello" on page 34 written for cello ~ that being the only written music in the book. On page 35 she states: "The examples utilizing cello literature are readily transferable to all string instruments....". Since I am a mature adult intermediate violinist, utilizing the cello music as written on page 34 is at this point, useless to me! I'd love to know why she didn't use a cellist on the cover instead of a violinist ~ I could have saved myself $15.00, but then again I would have missed out on those few wonderful tips! By the way, instruction actually began on page 8 and, for me, went through page 30 ~ a total of 23 pages!
