Editorial Reviews

From Book News

Intended for project managers and owners, this book focuses on the narrow, inner workings of land development and preparation for structures as it applies to the site-work phase of construction. It offers advice on choosing consultants, pre-construction surveying and site measurement, fire control planning, route and slope analysis, dealing with dry utilities, coping with hazmat and contaminated soils, and recycling on-site products. The longest chapter addresses site work cost estimating.Copyright © 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

As a commercial real estate broker I was intrigued to buy this book. This book has given me a much deeper understanding of the construction side so that I can relate to developers and the stages of a project.

Very detailed information page after page with no fluff!

This book is well worth the money. It's full of practical lessons from years of experience. Not a lot of stories, very to the point, in a text book format, but not academic in mindset. His approach is methodical with flow charts and illustrations, but also personal, in explaining how a developer must understand the various motives and personalities of different professions. As a small time developer wanting to take my game to the next level, this was just what I was looking. I'll keep this book as a reference guide.
