This review is from: Preparing Traditional Music Manuscript: Including a Handbook of Instrumentation, Theory, and Musical Terms (Paperback)
Mohn's treatise is perhaps dated by the fact that it was prepared just prior to the advent of good desktop music notation software. Notation information is relatively basic, but is a good start for the copyist preparing a score by hand. More thorough explorations of the niceties of engraving music can be found in other texts. The book's true value is as a reference text for music composition and theory, and makes a real contribution to the amateur engraver's library in that respect.
