Very Helpful Dance Instruction,
By A Customer
This review is from: Preparing For Your Wedding Dance [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Preparing For Your Wedding Dance is very VERY helpful. It is much better than other videos we've seen. We didn't have time or money for private dance lessons prior to our wedding and we kept putting off planning our first dance since we hadn't danced together before and were nervous about it. We found the video to be extremely helpful. It was a perfect alternative to private lessons -- less intimidating and definitely less expensive ! -- and it was very easy for us to use and to follow. Practicing at home with the tape became fun and we didn't dread the dance like we thought we would ! The instruction is broken down into understandable sections and the teachers also share useful advice about other things to consider when preparing for your first dance. The tape WORKS ! Our first dance went perfectly ! It comes with access to a "private" database of songs -- like 500 or so -- and that helped us pick our entire music selection for the wedding ! Highly recommend this tape.

I thought I couldn't learn to dance...,

Our daughter was getting married and I was worried about the father-daughter dance. (I always thought that having two left feet would be an improvement for me.) Anyway, my wife suggested trying this video, and it actually worked! I learned how to do a foxtrot and not feel like a complete fool.I strongly recommend this tape for anyone who thinks they can't learn how to dance. The instructors have an encouraging, relaxed style, and the tape allows you to learn at your own pace.

This is the best video!!!!!,

"We got this to learn the foxtrot, but it's great to have the other dances: swing, waltz and nightclub. I wanted to do a waltz for the father-daughter dance. Plus the section on swing was great for the party, because we had a DJ playing lots of big band music. So from one video we learned all three! This was a great video!!!! "

This is a terrific DVD which we have been using ahead of our wedding.
The instructors give really clear, easy to follow directions and pepper the DVD with really useful advice (e.g. which dances to choose if you have limited floor space at your reception, why you should practice in the shoes you will wear on the 'big night' and how to protect them, etc). They show plenty of examples of the 'finished product'. However, we were not overwhelmed by it all as the DVD is set out really well and they spend a really good amount of time going over each of the techniques and steps. The techniques all seem very easy, but look great. My fiancee and I have actually had a lot of fun with the DVD and it has been a great confidence booster for us and our dancing.

This video is very easy to follow, even for those of us who don't have dance experience: it has an on-screen counter, and the figures are explained very clearly, with demonstrations of the man's and the woman's footwork. We were beginners, but the explanations made learning to dance easy and fun. We were able to put together a little routine really fast - just in time for our high school reunion!
