About the Author

Mr. Tuchman is a former police officer, has served in the military, and has spent many years as a consultant in the power industry. His inside knowledge of the power industry has led him to conclude that a widespread outage that can last from several weeks to many months is a credible scenario. That, and all the other possible disaster scenarios that are possible, has led him to become a Prepper. He will quickly and easily lead you through all the reasonable and useful things he has learned about prepping over the last couple of years as he presents a simple, step by step guide to becoming independent and self-sufficient in the case of a long term power grid failure and all the other emergency scenarios that go with it, from empty supermarkets to civil unrest.

Format: Paperback
This entertaining how-to is the best emergency preparedness guide I've ever read, and I've read a lot!
The author doesn't just tell you what stuff you need and why -- much of which I would never have thought of -- he tells you where to get the best gear and supplies at the best prices. He even explains why one item is better than the other.
The book points out very possible scenarios that could easily leave us needing to care for ourselves for weeks, if not months -- again, much I had not known. It's clear the author understands the electricity infrastructure, and just how fragile it apparently is.
There's a lot of information packed in the book, but it's also a good read, and sometimes quite funny.
If you really want to keep yourself and your family safe, secure and healthy through even a week-long emergency, you should get this book!

This book is a very quick read, humorous and contains loads of useful information. I live in the northeast and we have experienced some pretty severe weather in recent years and being prepared is your only defense. No matter what you are preparing for (natural disaster, economic collapse or the zombie apocalypse) I highly recommend this book. Even though I have read other books on the subject, I found very useful things in it that I had not read before nor had I thought of. David Tuchman has offered a comprehensive and insightful book that will not bore you to tears, and for the price you can't beat it!!

Nothing new, just one person's ideas and suggestions. If you have read one prepper book, you have read them all. They all pretty much tell the same things and usually have a lot of personal ideas given by the authors.
