Customer Reviews

Works efficiently, is of good durable quality, and easy to clean.

Worse, while getting injured on a sharp blade is bad, getting injured on a dull blade is terrible, since it doesn't produce a clean cut that will heal quickly.

The ridges on the bottom and comfortable handle hold it in place for slicing onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, celery and fennel.

We have a big, heavy, clumsy, scary mandolin which I never use. I ordered this one in hopes it would be better. It is!! The fact that it's adjustable without having to have separate pieces is awesome! Just a quick slide of the switch and the size of the opening changes, and then slides closed, so the blade is not exposed when not in use. I keep it hanging on the inside of my cabinet and it's always ready, no looking for attachments. I set it right over a bowl and go. I recently used it to make pickles from a leftover seedless cucumber. I saved the pickle juice from a finished jar & added the thin cue slices. Great pickles! I love this slicer !!!

I've always missed having a mandoline slicer around the house whenever I'm making salads. You don't want to tote out the food processor to slice up a cucumber, but you wish you didn't have to do it all by hand, either. This slicer is easy enough to store in a drawer and doesn't take up much space. It doesn't take any time at all to set up, so it can be out in a flash and ready for use. Slice up those cucumbers and put it in the dishwasher on the top rack. Easy to store, easy to use, easy to clean... Plus the price isn't bad. That's a winner in my book!

I'm one of those people who is not very skilled and comfortable using a knife, and as a result, tended to only eat fresh vegetables that came pre-sliced in a bag. This gets quite expensive, and so I began to look into getting a mandoline, in the hope of doing some of my own slicing more easily. I was a bit put off by the prices of many of them, but when I saw this one for less than $20.00, I decided to give it a try. And boy! am I ever glad I did. It slices vegetables smoothly, quickly, and easily in three thicknesses, and has a fourth setting that secures the blade so that the user won't get cut. It also comes with an opaque vegetable gripper to keep the user's fingers from coming into contact with the blade as he or she runs the vegetable across the blade. The outer edge of the mandoline is rimmed with silicon, so it will grip the sides of a bowl without sliding, another important safety feature. It's also small enough to fit into a drawer with other kitchen gadgets (just be sure to put the blade on the safety setting), freeing up valuable counter space and reducing clutter. Best of all, I can now slice my own fresh vegetables and find that I'm eating a lot more of them. This is a money-saving, time-saving gadget and a huge help in the kitchen all the way around!

This isn't going to be the mandoline for someone who juliennes potatoes or the perfectionist cook but for me it does the job. If a product is heavy or requires a lot of setup, I'm just not going to use it. This is perfect for my needs. I lay it over a sturdy bowl. There are 3 thickness settings that are easy to adjust with your thumb. The ridges on the bottom and comfortable handle hold it in place for slicing onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, celery and fennel. These are what I use the most of for meals. It has a lock in place mechanism for storage, can go in the dishwasher and it is sharp enough to do the job or cut your fingers so be careful. Purchase a cutting glove if necessary. For the money and the convenience, I am very happy. It is worth it to me just for thin slicing anything. It's fast, easy and saves me time in the kitchen.

Buy something else! I never write reviews for products, but I do rely heavily on them when I shop online (which is often). Usually the reviews are right on the money...but not this time! I can handle hand washing this product in hot soapy water, as the manufacturer recommends, unfortunately no amount of washing is going to get it clean. Food gets stuck between the blade and the plastic and does not come out. Because this item got such great reviews, I thought that it must come apart to clean - it does not. I tried to pull the back of it to remove the food and the slider (which is made of what looks like 2 pieces of plastic glued together) that adjusts the blade, snapped off, rendering the product completely useless, after just one use! I really liked the idea of this mandoline...easy to store, no pieces to keep tabs on, but it is poorly designed and shoddy. Amazon's return policy in this case is useless, and the manufacturer claims that they will repair/replace the product only...but why? I wasted my money, don't waste yours.

I should have known based on the price. I used it on average twice per week for about a month and a half and it fell apart. For once a month usage this is probably fine but anything more than that don't bother with this one.

My first mandoline and I LOVE IT! I can't believe I have been cooking for 40 years and have not had one, and this one fits the bill. I read the reviews, so I realize how sharp it is, the safety latch helps because I store it in my gadget drawer. The size is great, the non-slip edge is great, the 3 different slicing sizes are great. A great product for little money.

The finger guard on this mandoline does not grip tougher foods like sweet potatoes, and as a result, I lost the corner of my pinky finger. It's very easy to adjust the thickness, does a fine job slicing softer foods, and the size is perfectly compact. All these make for a very good overall mandoline, but for tougher foods, I find a chef's knife to be much quicker.
