One of the nicer laptops I've owned, with a big screen. Solid construction; owned since July of 2008. Newer Intel graphics driver (04-09) displays terrific quality, too. Dual screen w/VGA adapter is fine, too.

DVD drive is noisy and a little clunky, and I wish I had a 1GB Ethernet port. My wireless connection is faster than the installed 100MB, so I use that. And, as usual, an obnoxious bundle of useless software comes pre-installed. Just have to uninstall it, clean up the registry, and you're good to go.

I purchased this laptop for my sister. We are very happy with it. The large screen and keyboard is fantastic. It's feels like a portable desktop.

Purchased for 11 y.o. daughter and seems to be doing the job very well. Integrated camera works well and processor is certainly fast enough for what she needs it for. Value for dollar is very good and would purchase again if needed.

I work from home and needed a portable computer to accomplish multiple business tasks; this Compaq was exactly what I was looking for. It's light weight, loads applications fast and the screen illuminates nicely.

The only thing I really did not care for is the built-in web-cam and the right "shift" key is very small took getting used to.

The Compaq presario blows away our old Dell. I am very happy with the quality and value of this purchase. The speed and functionality are great.

I've had this laptop for a little over a year and it's amazing. It's incredibly beautiful, sturdy (I should know - it's been dropped), and it has a great screen. Watching movies on it is like being in a theater, although you have to use external speakers or headphones for the sound quality to be any good. The keyboard is excellent, quietish and fun to use. I haven't had any issues with Vista. Then again, I don't do any programming or gaming or anything.
I haven't even used a mouse at all - the touchpad is pretty good. In fact the only bad things I can think of is that sometimes (maybe once/twice a month) the screen and mouse freeze for a few minutes. I don't mind it in general, but it freaks out anybody else using my computer. I'd say this is a fabulous computer for students, or for people that don't need super-speedy stuff (not that it's slow). In all, I was very pleased with my purchase, especially since I got it refurbished for half the price.

Could someone who has purchased the Compaq Presario CQ70-120US respond to a question I have: is this computer exactly as shown in the illustration on this page? Specifically, does it have a black keyboard and surrounding area and a chrome strip with a chrome touchpad in front? I ask because I purchased and returned an HP G70-250US (the HP version of this computer) and the top surface, as well as the keyboard, were all chrome. Before I order I would like to somehow verify what is in the box. You can leave a comment as a review on this page. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
