Baillie, Robert. Born in 1599 and died in 1662, authored "An historicall vindication of the government of the Church of Scotland: from the manifold base calumnies which the most malignant of the prelats did invent of old, and now lately have been published with great industry in two pamphlets at London, The one intituled, Issachar's burden, etc. " Written by John Maxwell, a Scottish prelate. The other falsly intituled A Declaration made by King James in Scotland, concerning Church-government and presbyteries, but indeed written by Patrick Adamson, pretended archbishop of St. Andrews, etc. Publisher: for Samuel Gellibrand (London). Published in 1646.

Beecher, Henry Ward. Born in 1813 and died in 1887, authored "A sermon for the presbyteries of San Francisco and San José, on ministerial deposition and ecclesiastical non-intercourse. By Rev.
