This book is a collection of lovingly curated moments from childhood. It explores that magic moment in life in which all things are possible, and all questions are valid. "Can I go to the bathroom" and "Is there a ghost from space" are both equally valid questions to the children of this book.

The author has captured these children in the dawn of their lives, in that beautiful, fragile moment where magic still lives in the hearts of children.

I read this book the first time in one sitting, but I keep picking it up to read fun little snippets like "There's a bear over there in the bushes. It sells me things." Each gem is a little, tiny vacation from adulthood. I will read this book over and over.

We all know that kids say hilarious things. We all love the bizarre yet honest perspective children bring to the world. But never before have so many absurd, profound, confusing, hilarious, frightening, insane, mysterious, adorable, and wise one-liners been available in one nifty, pocket-sized book. You need this book. What better way to spend a 20 minute bus ride than by filling your brain with such brilliant images as "a dream tower that's made out of pee" or startling honesty like "I love everything in the world. Even fake stuff." Open to a random page, and stumble upon genius like "People are hamburgers in America!" This book will teach you everything you never needed to know and so much more.

So cute that we get to see the inside view of the minds of children. And not only to remember their precious little moments, but to have them written down to come back to at any time! Definitely will put a smile on anyone's face.

I love absurd humor and the wisdom that can be found in it. Not to mention the giggle fits I get! Preschool Gems is perfect for that goofy vehicle for poignant thoughts! Such raw material, such source material! It's a basic writers tactic to listen to the world around you & pull from conversations and sights seen. Leslie McCollum has done just that. This book could also be marketed as a writing or drawing prompt exercise book! Major props to a sharply curated book of gems!

Sure, you can follow @PreschoolGems on twitter and read them aloud to your friends and loved ones. But what do you do when Mother's Day or their birthday rolls around? Buy the book! Yes, it's a slim little volume, but FULL of wonderful morsels. I recently bought it for my Mother-in-law. She loved it, but the best part was listening to my 16 year-old niece reading it aloud when she picked it up to flip through..

What was great about this book was that it provided the reader with a first hand glimpse into the minds of young children. Whether you are a parent or not, you will get a laugh out of this and will sit back in awe and wonder how the teacher reacted to this being brought up in the classroom (as I have no clue how I would have reacted). The book truly is one that will make you sit back and realize how much our children and the children around us soak in (for better or worse). I loved reading this and know that you will too!

A treasure trove of quips from creative, developing minds trying to figure out the world around them and their place in it. This goes above and beyond "kids say the darndest things" - the reaction to these utterances is more like "Wow. Where on Earth did they get that?" And Leslie has archived these for our entertainment. A-okay by me. I dare you to pick just one favorite of all of the gems.
