My 28 month old son absolutely loves this book. After reading it a half a dozen times in one day, he'll ask to read it "one more time". And if you don't read it to him, he will turn page by page and tell the story aloud, well his version anyway, which is pretty close to the book itself. Although he knows the story, and the ending, he will sit still with anticipation until the very end of the book, which is a nearly impossible task for a 2 year old. He loves the repetition of his favorite vehicles in the book, and no matter how many times he hears it, he giggles with delight at the in depth description of the "sleepy, creepy, deeper-than-you'd-think mud puddle". This book is an absolute must for any little boy who likes trucks & cars & puddles, and what little boy doesn't?

My 4 year old twin girls love this book. They both want to read it again and again. They know it by heart and they still want to read it.

This is a simple, enjoyable story involving toy cars, a cute villain, mud pies, and preschool children as the heroes--ideal for reading to a preschooler!

The writing is simple, lyrical, and easy to remember. After only a few reads, our two-year-old knew the story well enough to act it out with her toys. The plot teaches that things that might seem a little scary can be overcome, and that with teamwork, anything is possible.

We read this book to our preschoolers who just love it! But early elementary ages would also enjoy the humor!It is one of our mainstay stories!! Enjoyed by both the children and the adults!

I read this to my girlfriend's three year old grandson one rainy afternoon not once, not twice but twelve times. He loved it, he loved the truck, the police car, in fact every vehicle stuck in the creepy mud. But once we turned the pages to see the animal preschoolers, well what can I say, the day was won. He didn't know if he wanted to be the piggies, the dog or what, all he knew was that he was going to help get those stuck cars and out of the mud. I absolutely loved seeing his face light up with laughter and delight. I also liked the book, easy to read to active little kids on any given day, but especially on a rainy wet day. Loved the illustrations as well. I recommend this book.

This is my son's favorite book. It has excitement and cool words and lots of different vehicles that get stuck in the icky muck. Then a neat twist of fate when the vehicles turn out to be toys and the preschool kids rescue them from the mud puddle. He never tires of listening to it. Highly recommended for a new preschooler, around 3 years old.

When my son was 4 he also loved this book. We read it over and over and over again. It seemed like we read it almost every night. He too had the book memorized - I think that's part of the fun.
